8. Datenlage zu Nebenwirkungen und Lebensqualität
8.1.2 Rektale Nebenwirkungen
Aufgrund der anatomischen Nähe der Prostata zum Rektum
kann als Komplikation einer Brachytherapie eine radiogen
induzierte Proktitis im postoperativen Verlauf nach der Seed-
Implantation auftreten. Die Proktitis kann mit lokalen Blutungen
einhergehen und in seltenen Fällen im weiteren Verlauf zu
rektalen Ulzerationen bis hin zu rektalen Fisteln führen.
Therapeutisch kommen in Abhängigkeit von Art, Ausmaß, und
Schweregrad der rektalen Nebenwirkungen beispielsweise
lokale entzündungshemmende Medikamentenapplikationen,
Formalin-Instillationen, endoskopische Thermalablationstechniken
(z.B. Elektrokauter oder Argon-Plasma-Koagulation)
und / oder operative Eingriffe (z.B. Colostomie) zum Einsatz.
