Das Deutsche SPIELEmuseum – ursprünglich<br />
1986 in Hamburg gegründet – lebt seit<br />
1995 im ersten <strong>Museums</strong>bau in den Neuen<br />
Ländern in <strong>Chemnitz</strong>.<br />
Es ist weltweit das einzige Museum, wo<br />
mit allen wichtigen Spielen eines Sprachraumes<br />
täglich gespielt und im Internet kostenlos<br />
gesurft werden kann.<br />
Die Sammlung besteht aus über 30.000<br />
Exponaten mit Spielen aus aller Welt aus<br />
den letzten sieben Jahrhunderten. Sie umfasst<br />
außer Brettspielen alle Spielmaterialien<br />
mit Regeln. Besondere Sammlungsbereiche<br />
sind Spiele des Biedermeier, Spiele<br />
der Jahrhundertwende, Spiele des Ersten<br />
und Zweiten Weltkrieges, Spiele der 50er<br />
Jahre, die Entwicklung der Computerspiele,<br />
aktuelle Spiele seit 1985 und Spiele der<br />
DDR. Darüber hinaus verzeichnet die Bibliothek<br />
über 2.000 alte und neue Bücher<br />
der Spielliteratur. Außerdem Kataloge, Dokumente<br />
und andere spielnahe Objekte,<br />
Grafiken, Plakate und anderes.<br />

The first games museum <strong>of</strong> its kind in the<br />
world. Founded in 1986 – it has found a<br />
new home in <strong>Chemnitz</strong> in 1995. It is the<br />
only place in Europe where the visitors<br />
have the opportunity to play all the latest<br />
games daily, including computer and video<br />
games plus internet and can enjoy<br />
seeing historical games from all over the<br />
world as a permanent exhibition.<br />
The collection consists <strong>of</strong> more than<br />
30,000 items on display, including games<br />
<strong>of</strong> the last 7 centuries from all over the<br />
world. The library holds more than 2,000<br />
