Presentation of
contemporary Saxon art
The New Saxon Gallery museum presents
contemporary Saxon art in the form of thematic
and solo exhibitions. At the same
time, the gallery is seen as the state’s national
promotional institute for artists. It
publishes monographic catalogues in close
succession and regularly enlists contests
like „100 Saxon Graphic Artists”. Parallel to
this, the museum promotes the extension
of its collection of contemporary Saxon art
post 1945. The collection, obtained from
the art collection of former Karl-Marx-Stadt,
has significantly expanded and advanced
since 1990 to newly developed works. Today
our collection comprises approx.
10,000 graphic exhibits, paintings, sculptures,
art and design objects as well as
photography. It is therefore possible to present
the emphases of parallel art developments
in the state.

Chemnitzer Kunsthütte e. V.
Der Neue Chemnitzer Kunsthütte e. V. ist
Träger und Förderverein der Neuen Sächsischen
Galerie. Sein Name geht auf den vor
über 140 Jahren gegründeten ersten Chemnitzer
Kunstverein zurück. Ziel der Vereinsarbeit
ist es, den Aufbau der Sammlung
des Museums zu unterstützen und durch
die Veranstaltung von Künstlersymposien,
Gesprächsrunden, Atelierbesuchen und
die Herausgabe von Jahresgaben die direkte
Kommunikation zwischen Künstlern
und Kunstfreunden zu ermöglichen.
