Industriemuseum
Chemnitz e. V.
Techniker, Wissenschaftler und andere an
der Industriegeschichte interessierte Bürger
gründeten 1990 den Förderverein. Ziel
ist der Erhalt des industriellen Kulturerbes
der Region. Dazu gehörte auch die Gründung
eines schon lange geforderten historischen
Museums zur Dokumentation des
bedeutenden Industriestandortes Chemnitz.
Der Verein sammelt und bündelt Informationen
und Angebote zu Exponaten
der Industrie- und Sozialgeschichte sowie
mündliche Überlieferungen und fördert damit
die Arbeit des Museums. Der Verein
sucht und vermittelt ehrenamtliche Mitarbeiter
für die Begutachtung und Restaurierung
historischer Ausstellungsstücke
und unterstützt das Industriemuseum
beim Erwerb von Kulturgut.

The sponsoring organisation was founded
in 1990 by engineers, scientists and other
people interested in industrial history, with
the objective to preserve the heritage of industrial
culture in the region. The founding
of a museum to document the history of
the major location of industry Chemnitz
had long been demanded. The organisation
contributes to the work of the museum
by collecting and focusing information
and offers about exhibits related to industrial
and social history as well as oral
tradition. Moreover, the association searches
for volunteers for evaluating and restoring
historical exhibits and supports the
museum in acquiring cultural assets.
