Four other camps were held prior to the start of theIBU World Cup season.The twenty-four athletes and seven coaches who attendedthis camp enjoyed good conditions with up to 1 meterof snow and average temperatures well below freezing.Kazakhstan’s Head Coach Dmitry Pantov conducted thecamp, which included participants from IBU Member FederationsArmenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and thehost country Kazakhstan.Although all of participants were motivated and eager tolearn, the difference in skill levels presented the biggestobstacle. The athletes from Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistanhad very little experience on snow as they comefrom regions with very little or no snow at all. Pantov, insome cases, taught them how to ski, and in other caseshelped the athletes improve their technique. The other focus,of course, was on shooting techniques.Further IBU/IOC Development Camps for next seasonare currently being planned, but await confirmation fromthe IBU Executive Board and the IOC. •Das letzte IBU-IOC Development Camp dieser Saisonfand vom 1. bis 10.
