Auf den Mini-Spielfeldern rollt der Ball
Kommunen und Schulen nutzen die Plätze intensiv
Das Ziel war ein ganz einfaches: Kinder sollten wieder (mehr) Fußball spielen können. Das war das Anliegen des
Deutschen Fußball-Bundes (DFB), den Bau von bundesweit 1.000 Mini-Spielfeldern in Gang zu setzen. Mehr als vier
Jahre liegt der Beginn dieses Vorhabens nun zurück – doch schon bald konnte man sagen: Das Ziel ist erreicht –
zumal bereits im Jahr 2009 das letzte der 1.000 Mini-Spielfelder fertiggestellt wurde.
Eine ebensolche Erfolgsgeschichte durfte und darf daher auch
für die Mini-Spielfelder im Rheinland geschrieben werden.
Nach dem ersten Treffen der Steuerungsgruppe mit Vertretern
aller Landesverbände in Frankfurt im Jahr 2007 wurde dem Fußballverband
Rheinland (FVR) mitgeteilt, dass ihm insgesamt 38
Spielfelder zugeordnet werden, darunter ein Referenzplatz in
Mendig, der als erstes fertiggestellt wurde. Im Anschluss ging es
um die Auswahl der Standorte – zuvor konnten sich Vereine und
Schulen beim Verband bewerben. Die Kreise wiederum konnten
Empfehlungen aussprechen, wobei die Standorte gewisse

The objective was very simple: Children should play (more) football again. This was motivation for the German football association
(Deutschen Fußball-Bundes, DFB) to initiate construction of 1000 mini playing fields throughout Germany. More than four years
have passed since the start of this project, but soon now it should be possible to say that the objective has been fulfilled, especially
as construction of the last of the 1000 mini playing fields was completed in 2009.
Asimilar success story can be written about the mini playgrounds
in the Rhineland region of Germany. Following the first meeting of
the organisational group with representatives from all regional associations
in Frankfurt in 2007, the Rhineland football association (FVR)
was informed that it would be allocated a total of 38 mini playing fields
including a reference pitch in Mendig, which would be completed first.
Next step was selection of the locations – clubs and schools were able
to submit requests to the association. The regions, on the other hand,
were able to make recommendations whereby the locations needed
to satisfy certain prerequisites such as, for example, existing cooperation
work between the clubs and schools.
And then work was started: On May 13, 2008 the start event for the
whole region took place in Mendig, with world champion Andreas
