Gegründet wurde <strong>ODU</strong>-<strong>USA</strong> 1990 aus<br />
den Überresten von Carrot Components.<br />
Der Firmensitz befindet sich in Camarillo,<br />
Kalifornien – nördlich von Los Angeles,<br />
auf halbem Weg zwischen Santa Monica<br />
und Santa Barbara.<br />
Carrot Components war ein Joint Venture<br />
zwischen <strong>ODU</strong>-Kontakt und G&H Technology,<br />
einem amerikanischen Hersteller von<br />
Militärsteckern. Das Joint Venture wurde<br />
1985 ins Leben gerufen, um in den <strong>USA</strong><br />
<strong>ODU</strong>-FLAKAFIX Schneidklemm-Steckverbinder<br />
zu verkaufen. Von G&H Technology<br />
wurde die Verwaltung und die Vertriebsorganisation<br />
zur Verfügung gestellt, <strong>ODU</strong><br />
lieferte die Steckverbinder.<br />
1988 zog sich G&H Technology aus dem<br />
Joint Venture zurück. Carrot Components<br />
existierte für zwei Jahre als <strong>ODU</strong> Firma,<br />
geführt von den vom Joint Venture übrig<br />
gebliebenen Mitarbeitern. 1990 wurde<br />
Carrot Components umbenannt in <strong>ODU</strong>-<br />
<strong>USA</strong>, Inc. wobei auch die Geschäftsführung<br />
wechselte. <strong>ODU</strong>-<strong>USA</strong> wurde eine<br />
100%-Tochter von Otto Dunkel GmbH.<br />
Aufgabe der neuen Firma war der Vertrieb<br />
des gesamten <strong>ODU</strong> Programms in Nordamerika.<br />
Der US-Markt stellt weltweit das<br />
größte Marktsegment dar, wobei hier auch<br />
der größte Wettbewerb herrscht. Jeder<br />
Steckverbinder-Hersteller hat mindestens<br />
eine Niederlassung in den <strong>USA</strong>. All die<br />
großen international operierenden Hersteller<br />
von Steckverbindern sind US-Firmen<br />
mit jeweils nationalen Ingenieuren und<br />
Fertigungsstätten.<br />

<strong>ODU</strong>-<strong>USA</strong> was started in 1990 on the<br />
remaining assets of Carrot Components.<br />
The company is located in Camarillo,<br />
California. Camarillo is north of Los<br />
Angeles, halfway between Santa Monica<br />
and Santa Barbara.<br />
Carrot Components was a joint venture<br />
between <strong>ODU</strong> Kontakt GmbH and G&H<br />
Technology, a US manufacturer of military<br />
connectors. The joint venture was created<br />
in 1985 and its purpose was to market<br />
and sell the <strong>ODU</strong> IDC Flakafix connectors<br />
to the US market. G&H Technology provided<br />
the administration and sales support,<br />
and <strong>ODU</strong> supplied the product.<br />
In 1988 G&H technology decided to withdraw<br />
from the joint venture. Carrot Component<br />
existed for about two more years<br />
as an <strong>ODU</strong> company managed by the remaining<br />
personnel from the joint venture.<br />
In 1990, a new management was brought<br />
into the company and Carrot Component<br />
was renamed to <strong>ODU</strong>-<strong>USA</strong>, Inc. It became<br />
a wholly owned US subsidiary of Otto<br />
Dunkel GmbH.<br />
The newly created company's mission<br />
was to market and sell the entire <strong>ODU</strong><br />
connector line in the North American market.<br />
The US market alone represents the<br />
largest single market in the world, but is<br />
also the most competitive. Every connector<br />
manufacturer has at least several<br />
sales offices in the US. All the large international<br />
connector manufacturers are<br />
US-based corporations with domestic<br />
engineering and manufacturing plants.<br />
