Als weithin leuchtendesBeispiel soll hier noch einmal die Monetausstellungunseres Von-der-Heydt Museumsgenannt werden, bei der knapp 300.000 Besuchernicht nur impressionistische Gemälde, sondernauch die Stadt Wuppertal für sich entdeckt haben- übrigens dreimal mehr, als ursprünglich erhofftDie immobilienwirtschaftliche Dynamik zeigt sichhingegen plastisch greifbar in einem Wandel desStadtgesichtes. Städtebaulich hervorzuheben istsicherlich die Neugestaltung der Fläche Döppersberg,auf dem das wunderschöne klassizistischeBahnhofsgebäude und die ehemalige Bundesbahndirektionwieder ins rechte Licht gesetzt unddie derzeitige Bahnhofsvorplatzsituation bedeutsamaufgewertet werden. Die Finanzierung steht,die Vorarbeiten laufen und die großen Eingriffe indas Herz der Stadt erfolgen ab 2011.Wichtig für die zukünftige Entwicklung unsererStadt ist aber vor allem die Ansiedlungsmöglichkeitfür neue Unternehmen und die Deckung derWohnungsbedarfe der Bürger.Daher erarbeiten die Kollegen aus der Stadtentwicklunggemeinsam mit unserer Wirtschaftsförderungein Handlungsprogramm für den gewerblichenBereich, welches die Flächenpotenziale derkommenden Jahre aufzeigen und strukturierenwird. Ein entsprechendes Handlungsprogrammfür die Entwicklung der Wohnbauflächen wurdebereits verabschiedet und weist attraktive Wohnbauflächenaus.Even in times of constrained local authority budgets,Wuppertal remains a thriving and attractive location.Take for example the Monet exhibition at theVon-der-Heydt Museum: this has brought in around300,000 visitors - three times as many as originallyforecast - who have not only been able to admirethese superb works of art but also to discover forthemselves just how vibrant our city isThe dynamics of the property market are clearlyvisible as you look around the changing cityscape.Of particular architectural merit is the redesign ofthe Döppersberg quarter, which will enhance thesurroundings of the imposing classical railwaystation and former German rail headquarters, andwill give a new lease of life to the station forecourtarea. The funding is in place, preparatory work hascommenced and major changes to the heart of thecity will proceed apace from 2011 onwards.Of prime importance for the future development ofour city is, however, the scope for start-up enterprisesto find suitable premises, and the availabilityof housing for our citizens.That is why staff in the town planning departmenthave put their heads together with colleagues fromthe business support team to develop an action programmefor local industry that will firstly identifyand then map out sites offering growth potential inthe years to come.
