Martha F. Brooks
named President of Novelis Inc.
Novelis Inc. appointed Martha Finn Brooks
as President and Chief Operating Officer
and Steve Fisher as Chief Financial Officer.
The appointments followed the acquisition
of Novelis by Hindalco. Novelis also
announced its Board of Directors, led by
Kumar Mangalam Birla as Chairman. Mr.
Birla is also Chairman of Hindalco Industries
Ltd. and of the Aditya Birla Group. Debu
Bhattacharya, Managing Director of Hindalco,
has been named Vice Chairman of
the Novelis Board.
In her new position as President, Martha
F. Brooks becomes the senior Novelis
executive, responsible for all global activities
of the aluminum rolling and recycling
company. Edward Blechschmidt, who has
been Acting Chief Executive Officer of
Novelis since January of this year, will step
down from that role.
Martha F. Brooks has been COO of Novelis

since the company‘s spin-off from Alcan
in 2005. “Martha has been an essential
element in the building of Novelis over the
past two years,” said Debu Bhattacharya,
“and she will make a great leader for the
company as we look to accelerate the
Novelis business strategy and maximize the
opportunities for both Novelis and Hindalco.”
Prior to joining Novelis, Ms. Brooks
was President and CEO of the Americas
and Asia division of Alcan‘s Rolled Products
group, a position she held since 2002.
Steve Fisher, newly appointed CFO, was
previously Vice President of Strategic Planning
and Corporate Development. He was
a chief architect of Novelis‘ corporate strategy
and managed the discussions that led
to the acquisition of Novelis by Hindalco.
Prior to joining Novelis in 2005, he spent
13 years in a variety of consulting and
management roles in the energy field

Novelis PAE order
for continuous
casters
Assan Aluminyum in Turkey recently selected
Novelis PAE for the supply of five
new Jumbo 3CM 960 x 1750 continuous
casters for their newly acquired Dilovasi
plant near Istanbul. This major contract is
part of a large investment to boost the
total capacity of this facility to 100,000
tonnes per year of aluminium strip and
foil. The continuous casting equipment
will include the latest metal feeding, roll
cooling and lubrication technology as
well as Novelis PAE‘s own molten metal
treatment systems for degassing and
filtration, Alpur and CFF and thus contribute
to making this new casthouse a
modern, state-of-the-art facility. Production
is expected to start in the first half
of 2008 and will be mostly dedicated to
high-end foil applications.
