to increase customer friendliness and realize
good efficiency.
Telemetry solution
Das vernetzte Auto der Zukunft
The Connected Car of the Future
Vehicles of the future are expected to use vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicleto-infrastructure
(V2I) communication to allow safer, more efficient and more
comfortable driving.
Der Fahrer wird z.B. auch dann vor gefährlichen
Situationen vorausschauend gewarnt,
wenn diese aufgrund einer Kurve
oder anderer Fahrzeuge für ihn noch nicht
sichtbar sind. Darüber hinaus erhält der
Fahrer kontinuierlich aktuelle Informationen
zu Staus, Baustellen und Umleitungsempfehlungen
für seine Fahrt.
technology. The so-called onboard unit
(OBU) consolidates the M2M module, the
GPS / GSM antenna, battery, and the user
interface together in a vandalism-resistant
manner. The benefits of this solution
for the user are already clearly noticeable
with the borrowing transaction.
Support with borrowing
and returning
By means of GPS positioning for the bicycles
and the integration of data in
OpenStreetMap, the nearest rental bike
location from the position of the user is
shown. The first step required for the Germany-wide
use of Call a Bike is to register
online or by phone at DB Rent. The actual
loan transaction is then automated on the
rental bike through GSM via the OBU. The
possibility for discontinuing use is also
widely available. Returning the rental
bike is considerably simplified, since it is
no longer bound to a station and requires
no active communication with the borrower.
Among other things, the smartphone
application allows a listed display
leistungsfähiges Kommunikations system
zur Anbindung des Mobiltelefons an das
Fahrzeug. Dadurch wird das Auto mit dem
Internet verbunden und bietet verschiedene
Infotainmentdienste wie Internet-Radio,
Echtzeit-Verkehrsinformationen, Notruf
of available bicycles and locations, a listing
of the travel costs and display of the
codes required for borrowing. Along with
the time-consuming search and return of
rental bikes improperly registered upon
return, administrative rental expenses
are also eliminated.
The application of this solution shows
how users and service providers can
benefit. M2M applications optimize and
automate business processes, since vehicles,
devices and machinery communicate
bidirectionally via mobile phone
networks with each other or with a control
center.
bunden werden. Allerdings unterscheiden
sich die Anforderungen für die
Fahrzeug-zu-Fahrzeug-Kommunikation
von der PC-Welt. Dazu wurden spezielle
Kommunikationsprotokolle entwickelt
und standardisiert, z.B. IEEE 802.11 p
und ETSI ITS G5.
Um die Einführung kooperativer Systeme
vorzubereiten, engagiert sich Ford in Zusammenarbeit
mit anderen Herstellern,
Zulieferern, Forschungsinstituten und
Regierungen in diversen Forschungsprojekten
weltweit.
Anwendungsbeispiel
Ein Beispiel, wie intelligente Fahrzeuge
den Straßenverkehr sicherer gestalten
können, ist das „Elektronische Notbremslicht“.
Diese Funktion unterstützt den
Fahrer im Falle von stark bremsenden
Fahrzeugen voraus und kann helfen, Auffahrunfälle
zu vermeiden.
Partner 2011
Bremst der Fahrer eines Fahrzeugs sehr
stark, wird dieses als Ereignis erkannt
und zusammen mit Fahrzeugdaten wie
Position, Geschwindigkeit und Fahrtrichtung
an andere Fahrzeuge übertragen.
Nachfolgende Fahrzeuge empfangen
diese Nachricht und warnen den Fahrer
vorausschauend, wenn eine Gefahrensituation
vorliegt.
The driver, for example, will be warned
against hazardous situations precociously,
even if these are out of sight
due to a bend or other vehicles ahead.
Additionally, the driver will get continuous
updates about traffic jams, road
works and detour recommendations to
enhance his own trip planning.
Connected cars
in a connected world
Ford is one of the leaders for connected
vehicles offering “SYNC”, a powerful
vehicle communication system that connects
a mobile phone to the vehicle. Thus
the car gets connected to the Internet and
provides various services to the driver
such as internet radio, real-time traffic
information, emergency assistance
and remote vehicle diagnosis. The SYNC
Vehicle-to-vehicle communication:
Electronic emergency brake light.
system is ordered in more than 80 % of
all new Ford vehicles in US and will also
be launched in Europe in 2012.
As a next step vehicles will get connected
to each other and to the infrastructure using
wireless ad-hoc network. However,
the requirements for vehicle to X communications
differ from the PC world,
therefore dedicated automotive protocols
have been developed and standardized,
i.e. IEEE 802.11p / ETSI ITS G5.
In order to prepare the roll-out of cooperative
systems, Ford is globally contributing
to various research projects in cooperation
with other OEMs, suppliers, research
institutes and governments.
Application example
One example how intelligent vehicles
may help to avoid accidents is the “Electronic
Emergency Brake Light”. This function
assists the driver in case of hard
braking vehicles ahead and, in particular,
in avoiding front / rear collisions.
If the driver of a vehicle ahead performs
an emergency braking, this event will be
detected and, together with vehicle data
such as position, speed, and direction of
travel, transmitted to other vehicles. The
receiving vehicle will then warn the driver
if a hazardous situation is apparent.
