Liebe Leserinnen und Leser,
herzlich willkommen in der Sonderausgabe des M2M Journals zum
M2M Summit 2011.
Die Maschine-zu-Maschine-Kommunikation ist aus ihren Kinderschuhen
herausgewachsen. Vielfach haben die M2M-Konzepte die
Forschungs- und Entwicklungsabteilungen bereits verlassen und werden
in der Praxis in immer mehr Bereichen erfolgreich angewendet.
Die vorsichtig abwartende Haltung gegenüber dieser Innovation ist
verschwunden. Viele Firmen setzen heute strategisch auf die Berücksichtigung
der M2M-Kommunikation in neuen Produkt- und Dienstekonzepten
und profitieren von den Möglichkeiten und Diensten in
vielfältiger Weise. Und auch immer mehr Verbraucher entdecken den
Nutzen von M2M-Anwendungen für sich und genießen den einzigartigen
Komfort. Die Zeichen stehen auf Wachstum. Dies wird besonders
auf dem diesjährigen M2M Summit und in dieser Ausgabe deutlich:
M2M ist am Markt angekommen und zwar weltweit.
Es zeigt sich in der Anzahl und Art der Aussteller und Sponsoren, die
sich im Vergleich zum Vorjahr mehr als verdoppelt und diversifiziert
haben. Es zeigt sich auch an den Themen der Konferenz. In diesem
Jahr wird in drei parallelen Sessions von Erfahrungen mit M2M-
Anwendungen berichtet sowie über Kundenakzeptanz und Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten
diskutiert. Basierend auf den gesammelten
Erfahrungen wird aber auch ein Blick in die Zukunft geworfen.
War der Summit bisher eher eine deutsche Veranstaltung, so hat er
sich in diesem Jahr der Welt geöffnet und ist deutlich internationaler
geworden. Wir freuen uns, in diesem Jahr Aussteller aus sechs Ländern
begrüßen zu dürfen. Erstmals haben wir mit Kanada ein Partnerland
des Summit, das mit einer Handelsdelegation aus 5 Firmen am
M2M Summit teilnimmt. Besucher aus vier Kontinenten haben ihre
Teilnahme angekündigt.
Ich lade Sie herzlich ein, die Zukunft mitzugestalten. M2M Alliance
e.V. ist ein offenes Forum für alle, die an der Förderung und Weiterentwicklung
der M2M-Märkte interessiert sind.

Welcome to the special issue of the M2M journal for the M2M
Summit 2011.
The machine-to-machine communication has outgrown its infancy.
In many cases, the M2M concepts have already left the research
and development departments, and are being successfully applied
practically, in more and more areas.
The cautious wait and see attitude towards this innovation has
disappeared. Many firms are now strategically considering the
integration of M2M communications into new products and service
concepts, and are benefiting from its possibilities and services in many
ways. More and more consumers are discovering the advantages of
M2M applications and enjoying its unique conveniences. All signs
indicate growth. This will be especially evident at this year's M2M
Summit, and in this issue: M2M has reached the market, worldwide.
This is demonstrated by the number and type of exhibitors
and sponsors, which have more than doubled in numbers and
diversity compared to last year. It is also reflected in the topics of
the conference. This year, in three parallel sessions there will be
reports on experiences with M2M applications, and discussions on
customer acceptance and opportunities for improvement. Based on
experiences gained, a glimpse will also be thrown into the future.
Although the Summit has been more of a German event to date,
now, opened to the whole world, it has definitely become more
international. We are pleased to welcome exhibitors from six different
countries this year. And we have Canada, which is participating with
a trade delegation consisting of 5 companies, as a partner country
for the M2M Summit for the first time. Visitors from four further
continents have announced their participation as well.
I invite you to help shape the future. M2M Alliance e.V. is an open
forum for all who are interested in the promotion and development
of the M2M market.
We wish you an interesting day at the M2M Summit, and that you
