Was haben die Büste der Nofretete, das Markttor
von Milet und Caspar David Friedrichs Gemälde
„Der einsame Baum“ gemeinsam? Sie alle sind nicht
nur berühmte Publikumsmagneten der Staatlichen
Museen zu Berlin, sondern standen erstmals auch
im Mittelpunkt eines neuen internationalen Klavier-
Kunst-Festivals, das Young Euro Classic in Kooperation
mit der Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz im
Juni 2011 veranstaltet hat. Die Idee von KLAVIER-
FIEBER ist so einfach wie faszinierend: 6 Komponisten
erschaffen 6 Auftragswerke für Klavier,
die von 6 Kunstwerken inspiriert wurden. 6 junge
Pianisten bringen die Stücke innerhalb von 6 Tagen
zur Uraufführung. Ergänzt wurde dieses Programm
durch 6 Matineen bzw. Tea-Time-Konzerte, bei denen
Meisterwerke aus dem gesamten Spektrum der
klassischen Klaviermusik zu hören waren.
Die Eröffnung des von Dieter Rexroth konzipier-
ten Festivals wurde von der gefeierten Pianistin
Elisabeth Leonskaja bestritten. Die jungen Pianisten
und Komponisten, allesamt Preisträger bedeutender
Wettbewerbe ihres Fachs, stammten 2011 aus
Dänemark, Deutschland, Frankreich, Rumänien,
Russland, den USA, Kanada, Japan und China.
Die Veranstaltungsorte am Berliner Kulturforum
lockten in der Festivalwoche über 4.000 Zuhörer
in den Kammermusiksaal der Philharmonie, die
Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, die Gemäldegalerie, die
Neue Nationalgalerie, das Musikinstrumenten-Museum
und die St. Matthäus-Kirche. Schirmherr des
Festivals ist Hermann Parzinger, Präsident der Stiftung
Preußischer Kulturbesitz, in deren Besitz sich
die ausgewählten Kunstwerke befinden. „Klavierfieber
stellt eine wunderbare Verbindung zwischen
bildender Kunst und Musik her. Die Kooperation
passt damit perfekt zur SPK als einer spartenübergreifend
arbeitenden Einrichtung“, so Parzinger.
Und die Presse resümiert:
Es war der Glücksfall eines präzis-konzipierten
Kultur-Events.

What do the bust of Nefertiti, the Market Gate of
Miletus, and Caspar David Friedrich’s painting “The
Lonely Tree” have in common? They are, of course,
all cultural magnets that draw the crowds to Berlin’s
complex of State Museums. But they also played a
key role in a new International Piano Art Festival –
staged by Young Euro Classic in cooperation with
the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation in June
2011. The idea behind Piano Fever is as simple as it
is compelling: six composers are commissioned to
create six new pieces inspired by six works of art.
Within six days, six young pianists then premiere
these new works. The programme also included six
matinees or teatime concerts featuring masterpieces
from the whole spectrum of the classical piano
music canon.
The festival, with a programme designed by Artistic
Director Dieter Rexroth, was opened by the celebrated
pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja. 2011’s young
pianists and composers, all prize-winners at leading
international competitions, came from Denmark,
Germany, France, Romania, Russia, the USA,
Canada, Japan and China.
During the festival week, more than four thousand
people streamed to the concerts that took place at
a range of locations at Berlin’s central Kulturforum:
the Berlin Philharmonic’s Chamber Music Hall, the
State Library, the Gemäldegalerie art museum, the
New National Gallery, the Music Instrument Museum
and St. Matthew’s Church. The festival patron is
Hermann Parzinger, President of the Prussia Cultural
Heritage Foundation, which holds the selected
art works in its collection. He had this to say about
its special appeal: “Piano Fever creates a wonderful
link between the visual arts and music. As a project
that cuts across divisions between various branches
of the arts, this is an ideal cooperation for PCHF.”
