Salles (ON THE ROAD), widely known for sending his characters off to discover their inner selves on long and winding trips, meets up with German director Sebastian Schipper. Schipper’s film VICTORIA is an exceptional entry this year in the official Berlinale Competition, masterfully choreographed in only one two-hour long shot. The past decade has witnessed a boom in filmmaking in the Arab world, which has in turn seen a marked return to the local art house cinema as a space of viewership, meeting and cultural exchange for local audiences. Noted distributors and exhibitors committed to bringing Arab films to local and international audiences will explore the current opportunities in and challenges to exhibition and distribution of Arab films. Through selected clips from BONNIE & CLYDE and JAWS, Korda demonstrates the multifaceted techniques used to merge sound, image, and timing to bring about the intended cinematic experience. The Film Prize of the Robert Bosch Stiftung aims to support German-Arab film co-productions that have been developed in the past months. The twelve nominated projects from various Arab countries will be introduced, and excerpts from the projects will be screened, followed by the announcement of the winners of the 2015 Film Prize of the Robert Bosch Stiftung. The Yes Men unite onstage with director and producer Laura Nix to discuss how they made their new film, THE YES MEN ARE REVOLTING. and narrative, moving into a landscape where art and science, design and<br />

“You simply cannot anticipate what you will find on the road,” says<br />

Walter Salles in his “Notes for a Theory of the Road Movie.” This panel<br />

brings together two filmmakers whose literally “moving” films can<br />

exemplify the best of what cinema can offer. Salles (ON THE ROAD),<br />

widely known for sending his characters off to discover their inner selves<br />

on long and winding trips, meets up with German director Sebastian<br />

Schipper. Schipper’s film VICTORIA is an exceptional entry this year in the<br />

official <strong>Berlinale</strong> Competition, masterfully choreographed in only one<br />

two-hour long shot.<br />

“Good editing is like good sex,” exclaims noted editor and director<br />

Susan Korda (FOR ALL MANKIND), and in this master class she will prove<br />

just how. Through selected clips from BONNIE & CLYDE and JAWS, Korda<br />

demonstrates the multifaceted techniques used to merge sound, image,<br />

and timing to bring about the intended cinematic experience. She'll lay<br />

bare the secrets of the editing room and the editor’s tricks to make a film<br />

work despite flaws that may have occurred during production.<br />

Filmmaking in the Arab World is alive and kicking, stoked by these times<br />

of political and social upheaval. The Film Prize of the Robert Bosch<br />

Stiftung aims to support German-Arab film co-productions that have<br />

been developed in the past months. The twelve nominated projects from<br />

various Arab countries will be introduced, and excerpts from the projects<br />

will be screened, followed by the announcement of the winners of the<br />

<strong>2015</strong> Film Prize of the Robert Bosch Stiftung. Three prizes of up to 70,000<br />

Euro are awarded in each of the following categories: documentary, short<br />

journalism. Noted Nigerian film critic and journalist Shaibu Husseini<br />

(Talents 2008) and filmmakers from the festival programme consider<br />

their approaches to creating stories both for the news and documentary<br />

work. Questions of access to knowledge, freedom of speech and press<br />
