Horizon Air Meet – The super airshow in R/C
2010 was already the second edition of the Horizon Air
Meet 2010. We were faced with a huge responsibility because
the event in 2009 was so successful. But we took that
as our biggest challenge in order to make it even better. We
analyzed the event 2009 very carefully and asked ourselves
what to do better. We wanted to get even better pilots, run a
better organization and bet for even better weather. We invested
hundreds of hours in preparation, held uncounted
meeting and had numerous negotiations with the county,
the town, pilots and magazines.
But finally the day arrived. Saturday morning we started
with the flag rising and than celebrated the show of the r/c
airshows. We had pilots from all over Europe and also one
team from the US. And the participation of spectators
was nearly unreal. The furthest spectator
cam from Luthania.
The night flight was very special. We
participated in a lot of events like this
but this was a class of ist own. It was due
to the pilots and their skills as also due to the
frenetic crowd that this became an memorable event,
something that still makes you shiver thinking at it even
today. Flights up to the limit, exciting shows and fireworks
and incredible spectators made it happen.
Best weather on Sunday and sport from its best made that
an experience of its own. A lot of spectators showed up and
chatted with us or were seeking for product support. And
normally you finish an initiative when it is at ist best, right?
And although this was an incredible event with a massive
crowd of spectators – we decided to host an Horizon Air
Meet also in 2011. It will take place again in Genderkingen
on August 19th and 20th. It will be better, more exciting and
more interesting.
And would like to take the opportunity to thank the county,
the town of Genderkingen, the airfield and its club and the
Horizonees for all the support to make this happen. You
