This film is about the world and visions of Nikola Tesla. Tesla invented the radio,
radar, neon lights and remote controlled robots. His greatest invention, the
revolutionary system of Alternating Current (AC) literally transformed the whole
world. His concept for “free energy” was ridiculed and forgotten. Tesla’s 150 th
anniversary will be in 2006. After celebrating Einstein in 2005, why not dedicate
the year 2006 to Nikola Tesla?
Nikola Tesla’s life-story is the story of the rise and fall of a genius. About 1900, at
the height of his fame, he was the first pop-star of the electrical age. Tesla was
befriended with celebrities like the poet Mark Twain, the banker JP Morgan and the
billionaire John Jacob Astor. Nikola Tesla was full of humour and wit, sure that he
was the world’s most successful inventor. His sensational demonstrations of
electricity were talk of the town. But his biggest dream - free energy for everybody
– never came true. This concept was doomed to fail. It failed, because Tesla’s
financiers had invested in copper, coal and oil. Wireless and free energy is a threat
to the fossil industry. Consistently, Tesla was ridiculed as a mad scientist; after his
death in 1943, he was erased from the history books. We will show how this was
done and why this was done.
Today, mankind has two great challenges: fossil fuels will soon be used up; and
the planet is warming. The film investigates what we can actually use of Tesla’s
concepts. Can we use them for solving the energy quest of an energy-hungry
world? Tesla one hundred years ago had ideas to answer our actual questions such
as: “what is the energy that surrounds us?” and “how can we make use of it?”
Between our hopes and fears, Tesla technology might be the gas-station along the
road.
In ALL ABOUT TESLA, we will go on a journey to
rediscover “the visionary of the 21 st century”. The
actor Rade Serbedzija (“Eyes Wide Shut”) will lead us
through this documentary. Rade Serbedzija played
Nikola Tesla in a Yugoslav TV-series 30 years ago.
Since then Rade calls Tesla his “Brother in Universe”.
Rade Serbedzija will take us by our hands to find the
enigma of Nikola Tesla.
