Der Tower 185 besteht aus einem hufeisenförmig
angelegten Sockelgebäude mit einer
Natursteinfassade. Aus diesem erheben sich
zwei Hochhaushälften mit einer Aluminium-
Glas-Fassade, die einen gläsernen Mittelteil
umschließen. Zusammen bilden sie den
eigentlichen Turm. Die Architektur stammt
vom Frankfurter Büro Prof. Christoph Mäckler
Architekten. Die Formensprache entstammt
Mäckler´s Auffassung einer rematerialisierten
Moderne, sie steht gleichermaßen für zeitlose
Eleganz und nachhaltigem Umgang mit knapper
werdenden Ressourcen.
Tower 185 consists of a horseshoe-shaped
main building with a natural stone facade.
From this foundation, two high-rise halves ascend
with an aluminium-glass facade which is
enclosed with a glazed central part. Together
they form the actual tower. The architecture
is from the Frankfurt office of Prof. Christoph
Mäckler Architects. The use of forms comes
from Mäckler´s understanding of a rematerialised
modern age, they stand equally for
timeless elegance and the sustainable use of
resources which are more and more scare.
Der in horizontaler Schichtung entwickelte,
neue Baukörper nimmt die Baufluchten und
Bauhöhen der Umgebung auf. Die gewachsene,
ursprüngliche Ordnung einer Blockbebauung
wird so mit moderater Höhenentwicklung
behutsam wieder hergestellt. Entlang der Oststraße
entstand ein gezielt gestalteter, höherer
Eckpunkt, der aus der Ferne als identitätsstiftender
Hochpunkt wirkt. Nicht die Idee eines
Hochhauses bestimmt die Entwurfskonzeption,
sondern die Wirkung eines Signets für
das Landratsamt im Stadtraum – die taillenartige
Einschnürung am Übergang zwischen
Blockrandbebauung und Hochpunkt unterstützt
diese Signetwirkung. Dem vergrößerten
Landratsamt wird entlang der Lerchenstraße
am Kreuzungspunkt zwischen Alt- und Neubau
durch einen gut sichtbaren neuen Haupteingang
eine einladende Präsenz im Stadtraum
verliehen.
4.700 m² Aluminium Pfosten-Riegel-Fassaden
mit teilweise farbigen
Leibungsflächen
2.500 m² Alucobondverkleidungen
2.600 m² äußere Sonnenschutzraffstore
2.600 lfm elyptische Aluminiumlamellen
teilweise mit Schallschutzfunktion
1.500 m² innere Blendschutzrollos
The new building developed in horizontal layering
takes on the building lines and heights
of the surroundings. The grown, original arrangement
of a block building is thus carefully
rebuilt with moderate silhouette development.
Along the Oststraße, there was a specifically
designed, higher corner point which acts like
an identity-defining highpoint from afar. The
design conception is not the idea of a high-rise
but rather the effect of a signet for the district
office in the city – the waist-like necking
at the transition between the block perimeter
building and the highpoint supports this signet
effect. The expanded district office lends
a welcoming presence with an easy-to-see new
main entrance along the Lerchenstraße at the
intersection between the old and new consruction
in the city.
corners on the floor plan. This rounding
is also continued over the roof; the stairs and
lifts are not involved in this corpus but rather
almost lean against it. A slender, elegant shape
was created as a contrast to the other buildings
in the Medienhafen.
Bei der Fassadengestaltung wurde auf ein ausgewogenes
Verhältnis zwischen transparenten
und geschlossenen Flächen Wert gelegt. Dies
ermöglicht ein Maximum an Tageslicht bei einem
Minimum an sommerlicher Aufheizung,
wozu auch ein mit Tageslichtlenkung ausgestatteter
Sonnenschutz wesentlich beiträgt.
Ein weiteres besonders Merkmal der Fassade
ist die verdeckte Führung von Oberflächenwasser,
damit Niederschlag die Sichtflächen
der geschuppten Flächen so wenig wie möglich
verschmutzt.
on a balanced relationship between transparent
and closed surfaces. Sunlight can thus be
maximised while heating up during the summer
is minimised including a sunshade equipped
with daylight redirection which also contributes
greatly to the reduction of heat.
A further special feature of the facade is the
While an element facade was assembled on
the high-rise part, the so-called Element A (9
In die Jahre gekommene Immobilien entwickeln
sich zu Energieschleudern, so auch das
bis zu 29 Stockwerke hohe Gebäude der Deutschen
Rentenversicherung Rheinland im Düsseldorfer
Zentrum. Ab 1976 errichtet und 2
Jahre später bezogen war es energetisch gesehen
schon lange nicht mehr auf dem Stand
der Technik.
Rund 30 Jahre nach der Errichtung war somit
eine gründliche Fassadensanierung an den 3
unterschiedlich hohen Türmen des Komplexes
fällig. Das Erscheinungsbild des sanierten Gebäudes
veränderte sich nur in Nuancen. Realisiert
The aging properties are becoming energy
guzzlers as is the 29-storey building housing
the Deutschen Rentenversicherung Rheinland
[Pension Insurance Rhineland] in the Düsseldorf
centre. Built at the beginning of 1976
and occupied 2 years later, it had not been
state-of-the-art in terms of energy for a long
time.
Almost 30 years after the building’s construction,
a thorough facade renovation was needed
on the 3 variously high towers in the complex.
The appearance of the renovated building
changed only in nuances. A gradation of
colour was implemented from tower to tower,
from light to dark in order to emphasize the
vertical. At night these effect is enhanced by
the contour lighting using energy-saving LED
technology at the edges.
Das neue Terminal wurde als 425 m langes
Brückenbauwerk über der Autobahn und der
Bahntrasse erstellt. Es präsentiert sich als geschwungene
High-Tech-Konstruktion aus insgesamt
ca. 15.500 m² Glas, Aluminium und
Stahl.
The new terminal was created as a 425 m long
bridge structure over the motorway and the train
tracks. It presents itself as a curved high-tech
construction of a total of approx. 15,500 m²
of glass, aluminium and steel. The long glass
band of the mall creates a visual connection
to the landscape. The building reminds one of
that of Hugo Junker’s designed wing design
construction in its form and thus on the living
tradition of airplane construction in the area.
