EDW.collector
EDW.collectorVor drei
Jahren schon begann ein
Team mit der Entwicklung des
EDW Grundsystems als Unterbau
des neuen Collectors. Dabei sind
alle Datenbankfunktionen, die
Plausibilisierung von Messwerten,
eine lückenlose Historisierung,
die Verarbeitungsschnittstellen
sowie eine umfassende Jobsteuerung
und Prozesskontrolle als
eigenständiges System EDW3000
aufgebaut worden.
Von der ENZ2000
zum EDW3000
Dieses System dient als Plattform
für das neue EDW.collector Zählerfernablesesystem
und bringt
einen Grossteil der bislang in der
ENZ2000 vermissten Funktionalitäten
mit. Und natürlich bringt es
die Auslegung auf die IT-Architektur
der kommenden Jahre mit.
Im zweiten Schritt wurde dann
das bisherige ENZ2000 System an
die neue EDW3000 Basis optimal
angebunden.
Die "alte" ENZ kann jetzt vom
neuen EDW3000 System aus gesteuert
und mit Ableseaufträgen
angestossen werden. Dies ist eine
wichtige Voraussetzung, um in
den bestehenden Projekten einen
fliessenden Übergang von alt zu
neu zu ermöglichen. Denn so kann
Jobs
Not less than 10 years’ of
continuous development
led to the data collection
system ENZ2000. It the most
widely used data collection
system in Europe today and
has received a good response
from customers, integration
partners, and competitors.
This is proven by the fact
that the system architecture
design has been successfully
copied several times.
Despite its success story success
story, the fact is that the system
architecture was defined in 1993
at the time when Microsoft launched
the first graphic 32-bit operating
system with Windows 95
- PC networks had hitherto been
unknown.
The Internet was limited to a
closed circle of elite scientists and
the liberalisation of the energy
market was as visible as a manned
trip to Mars.
Technological
revolution
Times have changed and the IT
environment has achieved more
than one quantum leap in the last
ten years. In fact, the next quantum
leap is already in view.
The existing applications have to
climb the technology ladder– or
become obsolete.
For meter reading and the ENZ2000
system this means:
a) migration to the process-based
Microsoft.net technology,
b) opening of the driver concept
for a better integration of new
drivers from 3rd parties
c) integration of the Internet and
its communication standards,
d) multi-client capability of functionality
and resource usage.
In other words, the old system
has to be upgraded with a new
release. 2 factors need to be taken
into account: the existing software
release is already in use at more
than 400 utilities that need daily
data readings and, therefore, the
migration must be implemented
without any impact on daily operation.
Benefit from
existing know-how
Another issue is that 120 man
years of R&D were invested in
the existing system ENZ2000,
therefore it is impossible to replace
such a powerful application
overnight which is why a separate
team started developing the new
system architecture 3 years ago.
engine with its database functionality,
