releases of the VDN specifications
will include standardised two-way
communication.
The design concept of the eHZ
enables many new applications
and the integration of variable
communication solutions.
Due to the fact that individual
meter exchange on site is just a
“click” away in the future, new
product generations can be rolled
out easily. However, one problem
is the availability of click-mount
holding meter cabinets on site.
These have to be installed with the
first eHZ based meter exchange in
every household.
This can be done using a new and
smaller meter cabinet or leaving
the old cabinet and using a fixedmount
adaptor.
Both variations will take time to
install so GÖRLITZ has decided
to deliver the residential meters
in both housing standards, the old

System integration
EMETRION meters are integrated
into system environments right
from the start. From meter installation
to frequent reading and
data validation, METRION meters
communicate directly with today’s
leading AMR systems. This can
be done using a wide variety of
media.
Direct connection
to central station
Online communication with a central
system, such as the EDW3000,
is supported, as well as mobile
drive-by or handheld reading.
Customers can submit their own
readings using tag devices or their
mobile phones.
Different customer groups and
consumption volumes require optimised
IT media usage, therefore,
media access devices, such as
modems, RF or PLC components,

are directly integrated into the
electricity meter.
No add-ons are needed. Everything
is already in the meter
when it is installed. This makes
automatic meter reading simple,
reliable, and cost-effective. A
brilliant system solution.
Optimised to
network customers
The meter series EMETRION
IQ is optimised for the ongoing
recording of short-interval timebased
load curves for industrial
customers. The experience gained
with the Skalar concept and Least
Cost Metering Applications was
used to create the new meter
generation. The IQ organises its
application data object-oriented,
like the DLMS standard.
Reading files are generated as
predefined subsets from these
object groups – optimised for the
requirements of the central data
processing HOST. The collection
of the metering data is done via
today’s communication standard
TCP/IP using the GPRS network.
So automatic metering and collection
of energy data has become
simple, cheap, and easy to handle.
The individual models of the
EMETRION meter series will be
launched in 2005. Actual information
