The design concept of the eHZ<br />
enables many new applications<br />
and the integration of variable<br />

meter exchange on site is just a<br />
“click” away in the future, new<br />
product generations can be rolled<br />
out easily. However, one problem<br />
is the availability of click-mount<br />
holding meter cabinets on site.<br />
These have to be installed <strong>with</strong> the<br />
first eHZ based meter exchange in<br />
every household.<br />
This can be done using a new and<br />
smaller meter cabinet or leaving<br />
the old cabinet and using a fixedmount<br />
adaptor.<br />
Both variations will take time to<br />
install so GÖRLITZ has decided<br />
to deliver the residential <strong>meters</strong><br />
in both housing standards, the old<br />

System integration<br />
<strong>EMETRION</strong> <strong>meters</strong> are integrated<br />
into system environments right<br />
from the start. From meter installation<br />
to frequent reading and<br />
data validation, METRION <strong>meters</strong><br />
communicate directly <strong>with</strong> today’s<br />
leading AMR systems. This can<br />
be done using a wide variety of<br />
media.<br />
Direct connection<br />
to central station<br />
Online communication <strong>with</strong> a central<br />
system, such as the EDW3000,<br />
is supported, as well as mobile<br />
drive-by or handheld reading.<br />
Customers can submit their own<br />
readings using tag devices or their<br />
mobile phones.<br />
Different customer groups and<br />
consumption volumes require optimised<br />
IT media usage, therefore,<br />
media access devices, such as<br />
modems, RF or PLC components,<br />

are directly integrated into the<br />
electricity meter.<br />
No add-ons are needed. Everything<br />
is already in the meter<br />
when it is installed. This makes<br />
automatic meter reading simple,<br />
reliable, and cost-effective. A<br />
brilliant system solution.<br />
Optimised to<br />
network customers<br />
The meter series <strong>EMETRION</strong><br />
IQ is optimised for the ongoing<br />
recording of short-interval timebased<br />
load curves for industrial<br />
customers. The experience gained<br />
<strong>with</strong> the Skalar concept and Least<br />
Cost Metering Applications was<br />
used to create the new meter<br />
generation. The IQ organises its<br />
application data object-oriented,<br />
like the DLMS standard.<br />
Reading files are generated as<br />
predefined subsets from these<br />
object groups – optimised for the<br />
requirements of the central data<br />
processing HOST. The collection<br />
of the metering data is done via<br />
today’s communication standard<br />
TCP/IP using the GPRS network.<br />
So automatic metering and collection<br />
of energy data has become<br />
simple, cheap, and easy to handle.<br />
The individual models of the<br />
<strong>EMETRION</strong> meter series will be<br />
launched in 2005. Actual information<br />
