Biblioteka Sejmova (Warsaw). The core of the Division’s collection are the library holdings of
the former Central Archives of the Central Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party
Poland’s neighbouring countries and countries with which Poland had historical links as a result
of the partitions, and political and economic emigration. The Division also holds a
comprehensive collection of critical editions of the classics of the leftist thought, and studies
from all over the world on leftist philosophy and doctrines.
The current collection profile developed already by the Sejm Library was enriched by Polish
and foreign literature on the history of the Polish People’s Republic and the participation of
the Polish left in democratic changes after 1989, as well as a selection of publications on the
history of the USSR and other states of the former communist bloc, and the sociopolitical
transformation in this region. Regarding current foreign serials, the Division collects mainly
titles which specialize in research on international leftist doctrines and movements, and
social history.
