Diverse topics
Local authorities require various products and services in order to
be able to fulfil their civic duties towards their citizens as best
possible. The Kommunalmesse 2012 trade fair covers this varied
range of topics. Visitors will find products and services from, among
others, the following sectors: Waste management, equipment in public
buildings, finance, IT and e-government, automotive and
equipment, road construction and road maintenance, and water
management.
59th Austrian Association of
Municipalities Day
Kommunalmesse 2012 takes place within
the larger framework of the 59th Austrian
Association of Municipalities Day. The
event is the largest local political function
in Austria. Delegates from Austria’s
2,357 local authorities discuss current
municipal issues. Traditionally, political
heavyweights such as the Federal President
and leading members of the federal
and state government take part in the event. The municipalities make
decisions relating to expenditure totalling n 17 billion per year each
year (source: Gemeindefinanzbericht 2011 – communal financial
report 2011).
Mag. Michael Zimper, Managing Director of the Austrian Kommunal-
Verlag (magazine covering municipal issues), gets to the heart of the
matter with what he believes is the objection of the trade fair: “With
