and 14 inch tyres, which still are the leading sizes in many European
tyre markets. This also helps Deldo to establish long-term,
reliable and stable business relations with European tyre dealers.
Apart from their obviously large line-up, South China Tire also
offers “stable relations and a programme,” says Stani Delcroix.
This is further guaranteed due to the fact that Deldo Autobanden
is the only importer of Wanli and Sunny tyres in Europe. And it is
the only company globally that can obtained e-marked Wanli and
Sunny tyres. Last year this accounted for about 2 million tyres
bought from South China Tire and distributed throughout Europe;
SCT has an annual production capacity of about 6.5 million units.
Tread patterns that are sold in Northern America or in China do
not have an approval according to ECE-R30 thus these tyres are
not allowed to be sold in Europe. Therefore parallel imports from
outside Europe are reduced to a minimum.
Of course those responsible at Deldo Autobanden know that
products made in China by Chinese manufacturers are all offered
in the budget market segment and that this situation will remain
unchanged for the time being. However it is feasible that a company
like Deldo Autobanden will be able to establish a brand
image with product initiatives such as Wanli’s “Reinforced Sidewall
Technology“ (RST). “The first thing always is the price, then
there is quality,” that’s why a product is offered in the budget
segment of a market, of any market. That’s where brand names
and tread patterns can be substituted arbitrarily – so long as the
price is the right price. This is in particular true for the UK tyre
market, which is even more price sensitive than other major
European tyre markets. But it also applies in Germany, where the
budget tyre market is experiencing continuous growth. According
to Stani Delcroix it is in particular the tyre dealers that have a
strong influence on end consumers’ decisions to buy this or that
tyre brand. This is because end consumers are only buying
according to price and have no special relationship with any
specific tyre brand.
Only time will tell whether or not the Chinese tyre
manufacturers in business today will remain in the near future,
Hersteller, wie sich bei Tests europäischer Organisationen
wie des ADAC herausstellt. Man
sollte sich allerdings vor Augen führen, dass
chinesische Unternehmen im Zweifel seit zehn
Jahren Radialreifen fertigen (South China Tire
seit fünf Jahren), während etablierte Hersteller
dies seit über 60 Jahren tun. Es gibt derzeit
ein gutes Dutzend chinesische Hersteller, die
Pkw-Radialreifen in Europa anbieten, und alle
glauben sie – so Stani Delcroix weiter – dass
das UHP-Segment (ab 17 Zoll und Speedindex
V) hierzulande eine ähnlich große Bedeutung
hat wie etwa in den USA.
Während viele chinesische Hersteller auf
das UHP-Segment abzielen und ihre Produktion
entsprechend ausrichten, drängt Deldo bei
South China Tire darauf, dass ein komplettes
Produktportfolio angeboten wird. Großhändler
wie auch Reifenfachhändler, die an langfristigen,
verlässlichen und stabilen Beziehungen
interessiert sind, wollen von einem Lieferanten
eben auch 13 oder 14 Zoll große Reifen kaufen;
gerade in Süd- und Osteuropa oftmals
marktbestimmend.
so Stani Delcroix.
