General Manager of ITG, on strategy
of ITG, customer demands
and trends
What does the brand ITG stand for
today?
ITG is well-positioned in the market
as a specialized service provider
with a broad range of individual forwarding
and logistics services with
highest quality, reliability and flexibility
offered for certain industry sectors.
Our mostly medium-sized customers
appreciate the entrepreneurial
attitude and the high identification
with their tasks and products.
What are the benefits for customers
deciding to entrust their logistics in
part or completely to ITG?
Each of our customers has very specific
demands and requirements. We
strive to meet these demands as
entirely as possible each and every
time by an individual concept we
happen to set up in most cases. As
an example, customers benefit from
the fact that we employ our knowhow
from 25 years of experience
during the development of sectorspecific
solutions for the organization
of their supply chain.
For other customers, the quality of
our services has the highest priority.
They benefit from our comprehensive
value-added services and from
utmost reliability in all processes,
because this is a key factor for their
own brand. Often it’s our enormous
flexibility that customers appreciate,
for example if huge storage capacities
are needed within short notice.
For what sectors does ITG offer
these services?
We are focusing on the sectors
Lifestyle/Fashion, Cosmetics &
Perfumes, Shoes & Sporting Goods,
Advertising & Marketing with high
competence. Some branches have
developed special solutions, for
instance in terms of security or
documentation, one example being
the chemical industry.
Well, this is the logistics part. What
can ITG offer in terms of forwarding?
We put an emphasis on this sector
as well, driven by the claims and
targets of our customers. We dispose
of a comprehensive network of
independent partners with similar
business attitude. These companies
fit into the ITG brand and strengthen
us exactly where the customers
need us.
Which regions are you focusing on?
In the intercontinental business, air
and sea freight solutions to and from
the destinations China, Hong Kong,
Taiwan, Japan and North America are
predominant. Recently we have deve-
loped new services to India and
South America.
We also have extended our Sea / Air
offerings. With our partners Sea Air
Gulf and Interworld Transport for the
consolidation of shipments, we are
able to offer cost-optimized and
time-optimized combinations of air
freight and sea freight. The choice is
up to the customer!
ITG has further improved its
European road network?
That’s correct. We are well-positioned
in European road transport,
especially concerning our core
relations Turkey, Italy and Spain, and
have extended our services from and
to Eastern Europe (see separate
article).
What is ITG’s strategy in the future?
It’s an obvious trend that the logistic
supply chains become more and
more complex due to globalization.
Companies are outsourcing the parts
of their activities that are not core
competences and rely on partners
who provide these services. This
trend will even increase in the future.
Our strategy of developing individual
solutions on a high quality level is in
line with this trend. We strive for
long-term partnerships with our
customers and are willing to invest in
storage capacities, infrastructure
and staff. I’m convinced that our traditional
qualities will find even more
clients in the future.
