ADJUSTING THE FRONT GEAR
Make sure before you make adjustments, that the derailleur
and the sprocket are parallel and that the lower edge of the
derailleur is about 3 mm above the highest point of the
largest sprocket (Fig. 12). The inner and outer stops of the
derailleur are adjusted with two adjuster screws, one which
regulates the derailleur’s movement outwards, and the other
inwards.

- Shift the back gear to the largest and the front gear to the smallest sprocket; adjust
the inward adjustment screw so that the chain doesn’t touch the inner edge of the
derailleur.
- Shift the back gear to the smallest and the front gear to the largest sprocket; adjust
the outward adjustment screw so that the chain doesn’t go outside of the outer edge of
the derailleur.
The final adjustment is done with the adjustment screw on the gear shift lever for the
front gear shift.
ADJUSTING THE BACK GEAR
Make sure before you make adjustments, that the pulleys of the derailleur and the
sprocket of the cassette cogs are parallel. The inner and outer stops of the derailleur
are set with two adjuster screws, one which regulates the inward movement of the
derailleur, and the other which regulates the outward movement.
- Shift the back gear to the smallest sprocket.
- Adjust the outward adjustment screw so that the upper
pulley of the derailleur is on the outer side of the cassette
cog’s smallest sprocket (Fig. 13/a).
- Shift the back gear to the largest sprocket.
- Adjust the inward adjustment screw so that the upper
pulley of the derailleur is directly under the cassette cog’s
largest sprocket (Fig. 13/b).

The final gear adjustment is made with the adjuster screw of the back gear’s gear shift
lever and the adjuster screw of the back gear shift cable. If the chain does not adjust
down to the smallest sprocket, the cable tension should be slightly reduced.
Conversely, if the chain does not rise up to the largest sprocket, the cable must be
tightened. In some back gear models, the spring-back factor works in the opposite
way, in which case, the directions for tightening the cable should be reversed.
