Cables
Lubricate the cables every six months with a thin oil. Check the connections. If
even just one thread is broken, the cable must be replaced with a new one.
The back brake cable on some bicycles which have rim brakes forms a link where
water can accumulate. Remove the water every six months. In the winter you can
fill the link with a mixture of water and antifreeze.
Gears
It is important to keep the gears clean, greased and adjusted in order to ensure
their durability and safety. Adjust and check the gears according to the separate
instructions which come with the bicycle. In Nordic conditions, hubs with 4 or
more gears must be opened and serviced every year.

Lock
Basta-lock:
When you buy the bicycle, check to make sure that the lock comes with two
identical keys and a safety card. Keep the spare key and safety card in a safe place.

BICYCLE THEFT
Report a bicycle theft to the police immediately. When
you notify the police of the theft, in addition to
information concerning the kind of bike, you will need
the frame number and key number. Send both keys,
your warranty card and a copy of the criminal report to
your insurance company!
