Along the entire value chain, the parties involved in construction
assume diff erent responsibilities. These mostly
relate to the compliance with construction contracts,
product standards, rules of use, regulations etc. Yet social
responsibility and accountability is also becoming more
and more important to those active in construction: keywords
such as sustainability, security of supply and energy
savings are but a few related examples.
This congress, too, will highlight various interfaces
between, and responsibilities of, the parties involved
whilst setting the focus on the high degree of technical
experience and expertise of the construction industry,
which is, unfortunately, not always recognized by the general
public. Both internally and externally, our image
needs to be improved upon: I believe that all components
of the construction value chain should always be refl ected
positively by highlighting technical progress and innovation
– both to the “outside world” but also within our industry
– in order to demonstrate to the entire society the
complex division of labor among the parties involved in
construction, as well as the progress achieved by these activities.
The “Leitbild Bau” (A Mission for Construction) initiative
launched by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building
and Urban Development provides an outstanding basis
to do so.
The comprehensive division of labor in construction
requires a close cooperation of all parties involved. Only
such an improved collaboration will enable our industry
to enhance the image of those active in construction and
to realize effi ciency gains by no longer just solving confl
icts together but fi nding solutions to problems and developing
technology further in a joint eff ort.
A congress such as the BetonTage in Neu-Ulm where
the various market partners and links in the value chain
get together provides an excellent basis for such a collaborative
approach.
On that note, I wish all attendees many new ideas and
insights in the technical program of the congress but also
many inspiring discussions beyond the “offi cial” agenda
that may contribute to enhancing the spirit of partnership
in the construction sector.

Die am Bau Beteiligten sind in der Wertschöpfungskette
mit verschiedenen Verantwortlich-keiten ausgestattet.
Diese Verantwortlichkeiten beziehen sich meist auf die
Einhaltung von Bauverträgen, Produktnormen, Verwendungsregeln,
Verordnungen usw. Aber auch gesellschaftliche
Verantwortungen werden für die Bauschaff enden
immer wichtiger: Stichworte wie Nachhaltigkeit, Versorgungssicherheit
und Energieeinsparung sind hierfür nur
einige Beispiele.
Auch in diesem Kongress werden verschiedenste
Schnittstellen und Verantwortlichkeiten thematisiert. Dabei
wird die hohe technische Kompetenz der Baubranche
unterstrichen. Leider wird diese in der Öff entlichkeit
nicht immer so wahrgenommen. Unsere Darstellung
nach außen wie auch nach innen ist verbesserungswürdig:
Ich meine, dass alle Elemente der Wertschöpfungskette
Bau sich durch den Fortschritt der Technik und
durch Innovationen nach außen, aber auch nach innen
immer wieder positiv darstellen sollten, um die komplexe
und arbeitsteilige als auch fortschrittliche Leistung der
am Bau Schaff enden innerhalb der Gesellschaft darzustellen.
Die Initiative des Bundesministeriums für Verkehr,
Bau und Stadtentwicklung „Leitbild Bau“ ist dazu eine
hervorragende Grundlage.
Die große Arbeitsteilung am Bau bedarf einer kooperativen
Zusammenarbeit aller. Nur durch eine verbesserte
und kooperative Zusammenarbeit kann es unserer Branche
gelingen, das Bild der am Bau Beteiligten zu verbessern,
Effi zienzsteigerungen dadurch zu gewinnen, dass
man weniger miteinander Konfl ikte löst als dass man miteinander
Probleme löst und Technik weiterentwickelt.
Ein Kongress wie dieser in Neu-Ulm, bei dem die verschiedenen
Marktpartner und Teile der Wertschöpfungskette
zusammenkommen, ist für ein solches kooperatives
Miteinander exzellent geeignet.
Allen Teilnehmern wünsche ich daher viele interessante
neue Einblicke und Erkenntnisse beim Fachprogramm
des Kongresses, aber eben auch intensive
Gespräche am Rande, die vielleicht zu einem partnerschaftlicheren
Umgang am Bau führen mögen.
