the expenses at the plant itself but also included expenses
associated with the upstream processes, such as those incurred
by the manufacturing of the required alloys and
electrodes.
Information from the GaBi4 (www.gabi-software.
com) database was used to develop environmental profi les
for upstream processes, such as the supply of electricity or
required fuels, as well as to determine the environmental
costs associated with the individual means of transport.
This approach enables a consistent calculation of environmental
impact profi les and thus prevents the creation of
artifi cial diff erences between the data used, which might
lead to incorrect conclusions regarding the contribution
of the individual building materials to the entire structure.
As a result, a consistent database was set up in the
course of this project that makes it possible to determine
the contribution of building materials production towards
the overall environmental impact of the urban module in
its two considered options, i.e. the “standard structure”
and the “fl exible structure”. Part of this data has already
been fed into the Ökobau.dat building materials database
of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban
Development.

Für ökologische Profi le von Vorkettenprozessen wie
der Bereitstellung des Stroms oder der erforderlichen
Brennstoff e oder auch für die mit den einzelnen Transportmitteln
verbundenen ökologischen Aufwendungen
wurden die Daten der Datenbank GaBi4 (www.gabi-software.com)
verwendet. Dies erlaubt eine konsistente Berechnung
der ökobilanziellen Profi le und verhindert damit
die Entstehung künstlicher Unterschiede in den
zugrundeliegenden Daten, die zu falschen Schlüssen hinsichtlich
des Beitrags der einzelnen Baustoff e zum Bauwerk
führen könnten.
Insgesamt wurde im Projekt eine in sich konsistente
Datenbasis geschaff en, die es erlaubt, den Beitrag der
Baustoff herstellung zur Gesamtökobilanz des Stadtbausteins
in seinen beiden betrachteten Varianten „Standardstruktur“
und „fl exible Struktur“ zu bestimmen. Die Daten
sind bereits zum Teil in die Baustoff datenbank
Ökobau.dat des Bundesministeriums für Verkehr, Bau
und Stadtentwicklung eingefl ossen.
