Gary L. Albrecht<br />
Gary L. Albrecht is Professor of Public Health and of Disability and<br />
Human Development at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His<br />
current work focuses on the quality of life of disabled persons and<br />
the political economy of disability. His most recent books are the<br />
“Handbook of Social Studies In Health and Medicine”, Sage: 2000<br />
(with Ray Fitzpatrick and Susan Scrimshaw) and the “Handbook of<br />
Disability Studies”, Sage: 2001 (with Katherine Seelman and<br />
Michael Bury) both of which have been released in soft back in<br />
2003. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement<br />
of Science (AAAS) and in 2003 a Visiting Fellow at Nuffield,<br />
University of Oxford.<br />
