Liebe BMW Privatfahrer, 

der traditionelle BMW Sportpokal wird seit den 60er-Jahren ausgeschrieben und 

blickt mittlerweile auf über vier spannende Rennsport-Jahrzehnte zurück. Das Ziel 

des BMW Sportpokals war und ist es, Privatfahrer mit einem Produktionswagen 

auf breiter Ebene zu unterstützen. Schließlich sind private Teams und Fahrer, die 

rund um die Welt mit BMW Fahrzeugen um Siege kämpfen, die besten Botschafter 

für die Leistungsfähigkeit unserer Autos. 

Neben den Werkseinsätzen ging es uns immer darum, den Rennsport für unsere 

Kunden bezahlbar zu halten und zugleich ein wettbewerbsfähiges Paket anzubieten. 

Mit dieser Philosophie ist die Marke groß geworden, an dieser Tradition wollen wir 

festhalten. 

Wir hoffen wieder auf zahlreiche neue Bewerber für den BMW Sportpokal 2008. 

Auch in diesem Jahr beläuft sich die Preisgeldausschüttung auf knapp 250.000,– 

Euro und die 25 Gewinner werden am Jahresende wie gewohnt in feierlichem 

Rahmen geehrt.

As an event which has been held since the 60s, the traditional BMW Sports Trophy 

competition can now look back on more than four decades of exciting motorsport. 

The goal of the BMW Sports Trophy has always been to provide far-reaching 

support to private drivers entering BMW production cars in competition events. 

Consequently private teams traveling the world to attain victories for BMW are 

the best ambassadors to demonstrate the efficiency of our cars. 

Next to works campaigns we have always made it a point to keep motorsport 

feasible for our customers and to provide a competitive package. With this 

philosophy our brand has grown and we want to hold on to this tradition. 

We hope there will be many new participants competing for the BMW Sports Trophy 

2008. This year once again the prize money amounts to almost 250,000 euros and 

as usual we will honour 25 winners at a festive event at the end of the year.

Teilnahme 

Participation 

Berechtigt zur Teilnahme am BMW Sportpokal 2008 sind alle Fahrer, die 

mit homologierten BMW Fahrzeugen an Rundstreckenrennen, der FIA Berg- 

Europameisterschaft oder internationalen / nationalen Rallye Serien teilnehmen. 

BMW Modelle des Typs E30 oder älter werden nicht für den BMW 

Sportpokal gewertet. Im Rahmen von Rallye-Einsätzen einzig für 

den BMW Sportpokal teilnahmeberechtigtes Fahrzeug ist der 120d. 

Anmeldeschluss ist der 30.06.2008. Danach eingehende Anmeldungen 

können nicht mehr berücksichtigt werden. 

Interessierte BMW Händler und Niederlassungen sind eingeladen, durch die 

Teilnahme am BMW Sportpokal mit Fahrern aus ihrem Verkaufsbereich 

die Popularität und Sportlichkeit ihres Hauses darzustellen. 

Alle teilnehmenden Fahrer müssen im Besitz einer gültigen nationalen oder 

internationalen Fahrerlizenz sein. 

Mit Erhalt eines BMW Sportpokal Fahrerausweises werden den eingeschriebenen 

Teilnehmern folgende Leistungen gewährt: 

– Punktwertung für den BMW Sportpokal bei gültiger Erfolgsmeldung 

– Sondervergünstigungen auf Original BMW Teile gegen Vorlage eines 

gültigen Fahrerausweises 

– Unfallversicherung 

Erfolge von Teams, Fahrzeugen und Fahrern, die für die BMW AG 

oder BMW Tochtergesellschaften antreten bzw. von diesen eine 

Unterstützung erhalten, werden nicht für den BMW Sportpokal 

gewertet. Im Zweifelsfall entscheidet BMW Motorsport nach eigenem 

freiem Ermessen über die Teilnahmeberechtigung. Diese erteilt ausschließlich 

BMW Motorsport. 

All drivers who take part in circuit races with homologised BMW vehicles, 

the FIA European Hill Climb Championship or international/national series 

are eligible to participate in the BMW Sports Trophy 2008 competition. 

BMW Type E30 models or older are not eligible for the BMW Sports 

Trophy. In the context of the rally stakes, the only vehicle eligible to 

participate in the BMW Sports Trophy is the 120d. 

The closing date is 30.06.2008. Applications received after this date 

cannot be considered. 

Interested BMW dealers and sales subsidiaries are encouraged to display the 

popularity and sports character of their dealerships by participating in the 

BMW Sports Trophy with drivers from their sales area. 

All participating drivers must be in possession of a valid national or international 

competition licence. 

Every registered participant will receive a BMW Sports Trophy Driver ID which 

will provide him or her with the following: 

– Eligibility for the BMW Sports Trophy by presentation of official results 

– Special discounts on Original BMW Parts on submission of valid driver ID 

– Accident insurance 

Any team, vehicles or drivers who registered for participation in the 

BMW Sports Trophy competition who enter for the BMW AG or BMW 

subsidiaries and who receive support from these shall not be eligible 

to score any points in the BMW Sports Trophy. In case of doubt, BMW 

Motorsport will decide at its free discretion on eligibility to participate. 

Eligibility is approved solely by BMW Motorsport.

Unfallversicherung 

Accident insurance 

Jeder BMW Sportpokal Fahrer ist in Zusammenarbeit mit der HDI Versicherung 

während und solange der Teilnehmer mit seinem Rennfahrzeug in der Wertung 

eines Rennlaufs für den BMW Sportpokal fährt, gegen Unfälle bei allen offiziellen 

Rennveranstaltungen mit folgenden Summen versichert:

Es liegen die allgemeinen Unfallversicherungsbedingungen (AUB) zugrunde. 

Der Versicherungsschutz beginnt mit Eingang einer gültigen Anmeldung bei 


Die Abwicklung von Schadensfällen erfolgt über BMW Motorsport. Unfälle sind 

BMW Motorsport unverzüglich anzuzeigen. 

In collaboration with the HDI insurance company, every BMW Sports Trophy 

Driver is insured for the following amounts against accidents at all official motor 

racing events during the time the participant is involved with his racing car in a 

scored racing heat:

The above is based on the general terms and conditions of accident insurance 

(AUB). Insurance protection begins with the arrival of the valid application at

Sondervergünstigungen 

für Original BMW Teile 

Den Teilnehmern des BMW Sportpokals werden Sondervergünstigungen auf 

die gültigen Listenpreise von Original BMW Teilen und BMW Motorsport Teilen 

eingeräumt, sofern diese für das im Sportpokal eingesetzte BMW Fahrzeug 

benötigt werden. Diese Vergünstigungen können jedoch nur bei einem Teilebezug 

ab BMW Niederlassung garantiert werden. 

Die Lieferung von Original BMW Teilen setzt voraus, dass das Fahrzeug, für 

welches die Teile benötigt und bestellt werden, bei BMW Motorsport angemeldet 

ist. Daher müssen die Fahrzeugdaten bei jeder Bestellung angegeben 

werden. 

Vergünstigte Bestellungen sind schriftlich unter dem Stichwort 

„BMW Sportpokal Bestellung“ bei einer BMW Niederlassung aufzugeben. 

Händlerfirmen sind nicht zur Einräumung der Vergünstigungen verpflichtet. 

Eine Verrechnung mit Preisgeldern ist nicht möglich. 

Alle vergünstigten Käufe unterliegen den allgemeinen Verkaufs- und Lieferbedingungen 

für Original BMW Teile, Original BMW Austauschteile, BMW 

Sonderzubehör und BMW Motorsport Teile. Bei Teilebezug ab BMW Niederlassung 

ist der BMW Sportpokal Fahrerausweis stets vorzulegen. 

Diese Bestimmungen haben nur für Deutschland Gültigkeit. BMW 

Sportpokal Fahrer wenden sich im Ausland bitte an die jeweilige 

BMW Tochtergesellschaft bzw. an den jeweiligen BMW Importeur.

eine Liste mit den jeweiligen Ansprechpartnern angefordert werden.

Special discounts 

on Original BMW Parts 

Participants in the BMW Sports Trophy competition receive special discounts 

on the currently valid list prices of Original BMW parts and BMW Motorsport 

parts only if these are required for a competition vehicle. Such concessionary 

terms are only available if parts are obtained from a BMW subsidiary. 

Before parts can be delivered, the relevant data concerning the respective 

vehicle must be supplied to BMW Motorsport. This data must also be supplied 

with every subsequent parts order. 

Orders for which drivers wish to claim a discount must be made in writing, with 

the heading “BMW Sports Trophy Order”, and sent to a BMW subsidiary. 

Dealers are not obliged to grant discounts. Offsetting against prize money is 

not possible. 

All purchases for which driver discounts have been granted are subject to 

the general sales and delivery terms and conditions for Original BMW Parts, 

Original BMW Exchange Parts, BMW Special Accessories and BMW Motorsport 

Parts. When purchasing parts from a BMW branch, the BMW Sports 

Trophy Driver ID must be presented at the time. 

The above shall only apply to purchases made in Germany. BMW 

Sports Trophy Drivers in other countries should contact the respective 

BMW subsidiary or importer in their country.

Punktesystem 

Nicht punkteberechtigt sind Fahrer, die für die BMW AG oder 

BMW Tochtergesellschaften antreten bzw. von diesen eine direkte 

oder indirekte Unterstützung erhalten. Im Zweifelsfall entscheidet 

BMW Motorsport nach eigenem freien Ermessen über die Teilnahmeberechtigung. 

Die Punktevergabe erfolgt ausschließlich durch 


BMW Sportpokal Punkte werden in folgenden Kategorien vergeben:

Langstreckenrennen (Klassenwertung): 24h Rennen Nürburgring 

und Spa-Francorchamps. 

Gesamtwertung 

FIA WTCC Independence Trophy und alle nationalen Meisterschaften 

für Gruppe-N-2-Liter-Fahrzeuge nach FIA Super-2000-Reglement, z.B. 

ADAC Procar, Russian Touring Car Championship (RTCC), Asian Touring 

Car Championship (ATCC), Italian Touring Car Championship (CIT), 

Portuguese Touring Car Championship (PTCC), etc. 

Punkteverteilung bei Mehrfachnennung für ein Fahrzeug 

Wenn mehrere Fahrer mit einem Fahrzeug starten, erhalten diese Fahrer 

Punkte gemäß folgender Faktoren: 

2 Fahrer pro Fahrzeug: 0,7* Punkte (gemäß Platzierung und Kategorie) 

3 Fahrer pro Fahrzeug: 0,6* Punkte (gemäß Platzierung und Kategorie) 

ab 4 Fahrern pro Fahrzeug: 0,5* Punkte (gemäß Platzierung und Kategorie) 

Doppelstarts oder mehrere Rennläufe 

Ist ein Fahrer für zwei oder mehrere Fahrzeuge als Fahrer gemeldet, zählt nur 

das beste eingefahrene Ergebnis. Die Punkte sind nicht kumulierbar. Alle Fahrer 

eines Wagens sowie die Marke BMW müssen in den offiziellen Ergebnislisten 

genannt sein. 

Dies gilt auch, wenn eine Veranstaltung in zwei oder mehreren Rennen 

ausgetragen wird. In diesem Fall wird ebenfalls nur der Lauf mit der besten 

Platzierung gewertet. Haben die einzelnen Rennen unterschiedliche Distanzen 

wird nur das Hauptrennen gewertet, also der längere Lauf, auch wenn für beide 

Läufe unabhängige Ergebnisse erstellt werden. 

Für eine volle Punktezuteilung sind folgende Starterzahlen 

erforderlich:

Klassenwertung 

Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring (VLN), FIA Berg-Europameisterschaft, 

internationale Langstreckenrennen (z. B. 24h Dubai), internationale

Divisionsplatzierungen werden nicht zur Wertung herangezogen. Wenn die 

erforderlichen Starterzahlen nicht erreicht werden, verringern sich die zugeteilten 

Punkte um den Faktor Starterzahl/Mindeststarterzahl. 

Bei der FIA Bergeuropameisterschaft werden die Punktezuteilungen wegen 

der relativ geringen Renndauer mit dem Faktor 0,8 multipliziert. 

Aufschläge bei 6h, 12h und 24h Rennen 

Bei Langstreckenrennen ab 6h werden Punkteaufschläge gemäß folgenden 

Faktoren zugeteilt: 

24 Std. – 2*Punkte (gemäß Platzierung und Kategorie) 

12 Std. – 1,5*Punkte (gemäß Platzierung und Kategorie) 

6 Std. – 1,25* Punkte (gemäß Platzierung und Kategorie)

Scoring system 

Rechenbeispiel: 

3 Fahrer starten mit einem Fahrzeug beim 24h Langstreckenrennen 

Nürburgring und erreichen den 2. Gesamtplatz: 

3 Fahrer: Faktor 0,6 

24h Nürburgring: Faktor 2 

2. Platz Kategorie A: 55 Punkte 

0,6*2*55 = 66 Punkte 

Jeder der drei Fahrer erhält 66 Punkte 

Meisterschaftsbonus 

Für eine gewonnene Meisterschaft erhält jeder Fahrer einen Punktebonus in 

Höhe eines Rennsieges seiner jeweiligen Kategorie. Gewinnen mehrere Fahrer 

auf einem Fahrzeug eine Meisterschaft, vermindert sich der jeweilige Punktebonus 

pro Fahrer um die oben genannten Faktoren. 

Die erzielten Erfolge sind bei BMW Motorsport auf dem dafür vorgesehenen 

Formular, der Erfolgsmeldung, zusammen mit der offiziellen Ergebnisliste 

innerhalb einer Frist von vier Wochen nach der jeweiligen Veranstaltung per 

Fax einzureichen. 

Der Einsendeschluss für Erfolgsmeldungen der Saison 2008 ist der 

31. Oktober 2008. Danach eintreffende Erfolgsmeldungen können nicht 

berücksichtigt werden. Der Erfolg muss mit einem homologierten Fahrzeug 

errungen werden. Alle anderen Fahrzeuggruppen können für eine volle 

Punktezuteilung im BMW Sportpokal nicht berücksichtigt werden.

Point distribution in the case of several drivers entering races 

in one car 

If several drivers drive the same car in long-distance races, they will be scored 

as follows: 

2 drivers per vehicle: 0.7* points (according to placement and category) 

3 drivers per vehicle: 0.6* points (according to placement and category) 

from 4 drivers per vehicle: 0.5* points (according to placement and category) 

Double starts or multiple runs 

If a driver is registered for two or more vehicles, only the best result counts. 

Points are not accumulated. All the drivers of a car and the brand BMW must 

be named in the official results lists. 

This also applies where an event consists of two or more races. In this case, 

again only the heat with the best placement will be recognised. If the various 

races are over different distances, only the main race is scored – i.e. the longer 

race, even if separate results are compiled for the two races. 

The following numbers of starters are required in order to gain full 

point scores:

Divisional placements do not count towards the score. If the required number 

of starters is not reached, the point scores are reduced by the factor “actual 

number of starters/minimum number of starters”. 

Sample calculation: 

3 drivers start in a vehicle in the Nürburgring 24 hour long-distance race and 

achieve an overall placement of second: 

3 drivers: factor 0.6 

24h Nürburgring: factor 2 

2nd place category A: 55 points 

0.6*2*55 = 66 points 

Each of the drivers obtains 66 points 

Championship bonus 

For winning a championship, each driver receives a score bonus amounting to 

one race victory in the relevant category. If several drivers win a championship 

in one vehicle, the score bonus is reduced by the above factors for each driver. 

Results sheets must be faxed to BMW Motorsport using the official success 

report form within four weeks of the event, and the official results list must also 

be attached. 

The deadline for success reports for the 2008 season is October 31st 2008. 

Any success reports submitted later than this cannot be taken into account. 

The success must be achieved with a homologised vehicle. No other vehicle 

groups can be recognised for scoring points in the BMW Sports Trophy. 

Note: All events held after October 31st 2008 will be scored for the 

BMW Sports Trophy 2009. A successful new registration for 2009 is 

required in this case. 

Due to the relatively short duration of the FIA European Hill Climb Championship, 

point scores are multiplied by the factor 0.8. 

Supplements for 6 hour, 12 hour and 24 hour races 

For long-distance races from 6 hours, supplements are added according to 

the following factors: 

24 hrs – 2* points (according to placement and category) 

12 hrs – 1.5* points (according to placement and category) 

6 hrs – 1.25* points (according to placement and category)

Preisgeld 

Prize money 

Jahresendwertung 

Gewinner des BMW Sportpokals ist der Fahrer, der die höchste Punktzahl in 

der laufenden Sportpokal-Saison erreicht hat. Die platzierten Fahrer erhalten 

entsprechend der Punktzahl Pokale und Preisgelder. Für den BMW Sportpokal 

werden alle Wettbewerbe entsprechend dieser Ausschreibung gewertet. 

Ex aequo 

Sind zwei oder mehrere Fahrer punktgleich, so erhält der Fahrer die bessere 

Platzierung, der mehr erste, mehr zweite usw. Plätze bei den einzelnen Veranstaltungen 

erreicht hat. Haben die Fahrer identische Platzierungen entscheidet 

die entsprechende Kategorie in der die meisten Punkte eingefahren wurden 

(Prioritätenfolge Kategorien: 1. A, 2. B, 3. C). Besteht dann immer noch Punktgleichheit, 

so werden die entsprechenden Geldbeträge addiert und an die 

Fahrer zu gleichen Teilen ausbezahlt. 

End-of-year score 

The winner of the BMW Sports Trophy is the driver who gains the highest 

number of points in the current Sports Trophy season. The winning drivers 

will receive trophies and prize monies in keeping with their point score. All 

competitions shall be judged in accordance with this system in order to 

qualify for the BMW Sports Trophy. 

Dead heats 

If two or more drivers have the same scores, the driver with the highest number 

of individual first placements, second placements, etc. in all the events shall 

be awarded the higher final placing. If the drivers have achieved identical placements, 

the event categories in which the points were gained will also be taken 

into consideration (order of priority: 1. A, 2. B, 3. C). If the scores are still equal, 

the cash prizes will be added together and distributed equally to both drivers.

Schlussbestimmungen 

Final provisions 

Mit der Bewerbung um den BMW Sportpokal erkennt jeder Fahrer die Bedingungen 

dieser Ausschreibung an. Die BMW AG kann Bild- und Filmaufnahmen 

von Sportpokal Rennen oder der Verleihung der Preisgelder erstellen 

lassen. Der Teilnehmer räumt der BMW AG das zeitlich und räumlich unbeschränkte 

Recht ein, diese von seiner Person aufgenommenen Bilder und 

Filme zu bearbeiten und für die allgemeine Berichterstattung und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit 

sowie für Werbezwecke, Ausstellungsplakate, Einladungen, Ausstellungen, 

E-Cards, Bildschirmschoner, Kalender sowie ggf. Kataloge und 

Bücher etc. zu nutzen. 

BMW Motorsport erwartet von den Fahrern sportliche Fairness. Ein Verhalten, 

das sich nachteilig auf die Marke BMW auswirkt, zieht den Ausschluss nach 

sich. Desgleichen scheidet der Bewerber automatisch aus dem BMW Sportpokal 

aus, sofern keine Sportbeteiligung nachgewiesen wird. Alle Entscheidungen 

und Auslegungen zum BMW Sportpokal obliegen ausschließlich 


Die Anrufung ordentlicher Gerichte oder einer Sportinstanz im Zusammenhang 

mit dem BMW Sportpokal ist ausgeschlossen. Alle in dieser Ausschreibung 

erörterten Subventionen und Vergünstigungen stellen eine freiwillige Anerkennung 

der Sporterfolge der BMW Privatfahrer dar. Eine Verpflichtung hieraus

By applying to participate in the BMW Sports Trophy competition, every driver 

recognizes the conditions laid down in this document. BMW AG can have 

photographs and films made of the Sports Trophy races or award ceremonies. 

The participant grants the BMW AG spatially and temporally unlimited rights to 

process any images or films taken of the participant and to use these for general 

reporting, for advertising purposes, for exhibition posters, invitations, exhibitions, 

e-cards, screen savers, calendars, catalogues and books etc.. 

BMW Motorsport expects fair sportsmanship from all participants. Any irregularities 

which have a disadvantageous effect on the BMW brand name shall 

result in exclusion. Similarly, the participant shall automatically be removed from 

the BMW Sports Trophy competition if he or she cannot be shown to have 

any sporting involvement. The decisions and interpretations made by BMW 

Motorsport concerning all matters pertaining to the BMW Sports Trophy are 

final. 

Proceedings before regular courts of law or sporting authorities regarding the 

BMW Sports Trophy are excluded. All subsidies and benefits discussed in this 

document represent the voluntary recognition of BMW private drivers’ sporting 

achievements. No obligation can be derived from them. BMW Motorsport 

reserves the right to change the regulations in this document at any time or 

to cancel them without notice.
