Kristjan Järvi with their programme entitled »Absolute Bach Re­invented«,
a reference to the famous Inventions and Sinfonias. For Järvi and
his musicians, the Inventions provide the starting material – just as
they did for Bach who doubtless expected of his pupils that the Inventions
should not be the compositional goal, but rather a basis for
development. Similarly, the Absolute Ensemble has developed the
original musical material in a new and unique way, from Baroque to
rock and, further still, to gypsy folk and hip­hop.
Performances by young musicians are, as ever, also part and parcel of
Bach on Air, and so we are delighted to be able to present to Bachfest
visitors the work of our choir academy, . Together with
pupils with advanced musical training from three secondary schools
as well as an orchestra, the well­known conductor Hermann Max is
working to present a broad­ranging programme. We are looking
forward to this meeting of enthusiastic young musicians from Markkleeberg,
Zwickau and Hoyerswerda.
The winners of BachSpiele 2012 will be enriching the programme on
Market Square with their own, original contributions: in »curiosus
vestitus BACHus«, the O.S.K.A.R. children’s and youth culture centre
takes a tongue­in­cheek look at Bach’s work, life and times in a show
featuring episodes from his biography, as well as music and fashion;
while Molllust will be performing their own arrangements of music
which rank somewhere between classical and metal, including »Blute
nur, du liebes Herz« from Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and »Ave Maria«
by Bach/Gounod, as well as some of their own songs from their debut
album, »Schuld«.
