Solar-Log String Connection Box (SCB):
Gezielte Stringüberwachung
im Einsatz
8000qm, 1533 Module mit einer Gesamtleistung
von 630 kWp sind die Kennzahlen der neu
installierten Photovoltaikanlage der Firma Biedermann
aus Hechingen. Der schwäbische Maschinenhersteller
beauftragte für die Realisierung
der Großanlage die Photovoltaik Experten
der Solera GmbH. Die routinierten Installateure
empfahlen ihrem Kunden – ergänzend zum Solar-Log
1000 und Solar-Log WEB Full Service –
eine gezielte Stringüberwachung mit der Solar-
Log SCB.
Professionelle Überwachung
„Gerade bei Großanlagen ist die Überwachung
ein zentrales Thema. Bereits im Planungsprozess
ist es für uns selbstverständlich, den Kunden
über die Möglichkeiten des Anlagenmonitorings
aufzuklären und es ihm dringend zu
empfehlen. Denn je größer die Anlagendimension,
desto gravierender ist bereits schon ein Teilausfall
von wenigen Stunden. Das wirksamste
Mittel, solche finanziellen Einbußen zu verhindern,
ist eine professionelle Überwachung“,
erklärt Klemens Jakob, Geschäftsführer der
Solera GmbH.
Lokalisierung der Fehlerquelle
Mit der Kombination aus dem Solar-Log 1000 und
der Online-Überwachung Solar-Log WEB Full
Service ist bereits eine zuverlässige Überwachung
gewährleistet. Die Solar-Log SCB erweitert
dieses System, indem sie die einzelnen
Strings vergleicht und eine exakte Lokalisierung
der Fehlerquelle ermöglicht. Der Betreiber
kann dank dieser gezielten Stringüberwachung
Fehlerquellen wesentlich schneller beheben
wichtig. Die Schutzabdeckung verhindert
jeglichen Kontakt mit dem Gefahrenbereich“,
erklärt Klemens Jakob.
Schäden aktiv vermeiden
Um Schäden durch Rückströme zu verhindern,
wird jeder Strang beidseitig abgesichert. Die
Gleichspannungs-Abschaltung erfolgt auf beiden
Seiten durch einen Schalter, auch unter
Last. Gegen Überspannung ist die Box mit Klasse
I und Klasse II abgesichert.
Unabhängigkeit bei der Stromversorgung
Die Spannungsversorgung des Datenmoduls
der Solar-Log SCB erfolgt über die Gleichspannung
der Module. Das Verlegen eines externen
Stromversorgungskabels ist daher nicht
notwendig. „Das hat uns einen Arbeitsschritt
gespart und die Installation vereinfacht. Auf
Spezialwerkzeug konnte sogar ganz verzichtet
werden“, so Klemens Jakob, Solera GmbH.
Using Solar-Log SCB
8000 sq. m., 1533 modules with a total output of
630 kWp are the performance figures of newly
installed photovoltaic systems from Biederman
in Hechingen. The Swabian machine manufacturer
commissioned photovoltaic experts from
Solera GmbH to implement the large scale plant.
The experienced installers advised their customers
not only to have the Solar-Log 1000 and Solar-
Log WEB Commercial Edition but also systematic
string monitoring with the Solar-Log SCB.
Professional monitoring
“Even with large scale plants monitoring is vital.
Even at the planning stage it is obvious to us that
we should explain to customers the possibilities
of plant monitoring and strongly recommend
it to them. The larger the system is, the more
serious a partial breakdown of a few hours can
be. The most effective way of preventing such
financial losses is professional monitoring,” explained
Klemens Jakob, Managing Director of
Solera GmbH.
Anlagenüberwachung SCB im Solar-Log WEB Commercial
Edition. / SCB system monitoring in Solar-Log
WEB Commercial Edition.
Locating the error source
A key aspect of a monitoring system is precision
location of the fault source, as well as supplying
data and detection/notification of faults. Reliable
monitoring is guaranteed with the combination
of the Solar-Log 1000 and the Solar-Log WEB
Commercial Edition online monitoring system.
The Solar-Log SCB enhances the system by
comparing the individual strings. Thanks to this
systematic string monitoring the operator can
locate error sources precisely and thus eliminate
them faster.
Convincing safety
The developers placed particular importance on
safety, both in fitting and in operation: An antielectric
shock feature inside the box enables all
connecting cables to be assembled safely. “We
are working in a high voltage area here that could
have serious consequences for the installer if
the unit is not fitted properly. Therefore, protection
against electric shocks is vitally important.
The protective cover prevents any contact with
the danger area,” explained Jakob Klemens.
Actively preventing damage
In order to prevent damage due to return currents
each cable is protected on both sides. The
DC on both sides is switched off by a switch
even when load is applied. The box is protected
against excess voltage to Class I and Class II
standards.
No additional power supply needed
The Solar-Log SCB data module is powered by
the module’s DC. Therefore, it is not necessary
to fit an external power supply cable. “That has
saved us one work step and made installation
easier. We didn’t even need special tools,” said
Klemens Jakob from Solera GmbH.
New EEG and Powermanagement
The amendment to the EEG (Renewable Energy
Act) scheduled for 1st January 2012 in Germany
mandatorily prescribes a power management
system for installations with an output of more
than 30 kWp. This will also involve updating
existing systems installed after 01.01.2009 by
2014. With systems with an output of less than
30 kWp, either a power management solution
or a reduction to 70% of the installed output is
prescribed.
In this case you are safe with Solar-Log . For
new customers we are also marketing a Solar-
Log 200 and Solar-Log 500 in a power management
version. The new units will be available by the
end of the year.
But customers who already monitor their system
with Solar-Log do not have to worry either.
We are offering our customers with the Solar-
Log 200 / 500 / 1000 a special service whereby a power
management system can be retrofitted. Thus
your investment in the Solar-Log will be safe in
spite of the amendment to the EEG.
There will be a firmware upgrade for the cos
φ control for all Solar-Log models which will
make it possible to configure the reactive power
or set the characteristic curve for a suitable converter.
The new firmware will be ready by the
end of the year.
It will also be possible to control the cos φ using
a ripple control receiver if the power management
system is retrofitted.
Solar-Log already supports power management
with many inverters. A large number of
inverter manufacturers will make their units
compatible with power management systems
in future. In this regard we are in close contact
with manufacturers in order to be able to activate
the function as quickly as possible with
the Solar-Log so that you make the right choice
with Solar-Log .
Solar-Log Sensor basic & Solarfox® S8
Solar-Log Sensor basic – verbesserte Überwachungsqualität bei kleineren PV-Anlagen
Solar-Log Sensor basic – improved monitoring quality for smaller PV systems
Solar-Log Sensor basic ist ein neuer Einstrahlsensor,
den Solare Datensysteme (SDS)
speziell zur Überwachung von kleineren Anlagen
zusammen mit Menke & Tegtmeyer entwickelt
hat. „Gerade bei Anlagen mit nur einem
Wechselrichter ist die korrekte Erkennung von
geringen Leistungsabfällen sehr schwierig, da
keine Referenzwerte zur Verfügung stehen“,
erläutert Jörg Karwath, SDS Geschäftsführer
(Technologie).
„Mit einem Einstrahlsensor stellen wir dem
Monitoring System Vergleichswerte zur Verfügung
und verbessern so die Fehlererkennung
erheblich.“ Der Sensor misst permanent die
Sonneneinstrahlung und speist den Messwert
in den Solar-Log ein, der dann wiederum
den Einstrahlwert mit dem aktuellen Ertrag
der gesamten Anlage vergleicht. Wird eine
Abweichung vom Sollertrag registriert, sendet
der Datenlogger sofort eine Fehlermeldung.
Der Anschluss von Wind- und Umgebungstemperatursensoren
ist nicht möglich. Der
Sensor basic erfüllt alle Basisanforderungen
eines Einstrahlsensors und basiert auf einer
Dünnschichtzelle.
Solar-Log Sensor basic inkl. Einstrahlsensor und
Modultemperatursensor / Solar-Log Sensor basic including
radiation sensor and module temperature sensor.
Solar-Log Sensor basic is a new solar radiation
sensor that Solare Datensysteme (SDS) has
developed specially for monitoring smaller systems.
“Accurately identifying small drops in performance
is especially tricky with systems that
only have one inverter as there is no reference
data available,” explained Jörg Karwath, SDS
Managing Director (Technology).
“With a solar radiation sensor we provide comparison
values for the monitoring system and
thus significantly improve error detection.” The
sensor constantly measures solar radiation and
feeds the readings into the Solar-Log which
then, in turn, compares the radiation value with
the entire system’s current yield. If the system
detects a deviation from the expected value,
the data logger immediately transmits an error
message.
It is not possible to connect wind and ambient
temperature sensors. The Sensor basic meets
all the basic requirements of a solar radiation
sensor and is based on a thin film cell.
NEU: Solarfox ® S8 Touch
Ab sofort ist das neue Solarfox ® S8 Mini-Display
lieferbar. Mit einer Bildschirmdiagonale
von 20 cm (8“) ist es eine ideale Ergänzung
zum Solar-Log . Das Display zeigt den Stromverbrauch
und -ertrag sowie in ansprechenden
Grafiken und Diagrammen den Tages-, Monats-,
Jahres- und Gesamtertrag einer PV-Anlage
sowie die vermiedene CO2-Emission. Der
Anwender hat die Möglichkeit, seine Ertragsdaten
manuell via Touch-Display abzurufen oder
in Form einer Präsentation (Diashow) ablaufen
zu lassen. Es kann zusätzlich als Internetradio,
MP3-Player, Radiowecker und digitaler Bilderrahmen
genutzt werden.
Das Solarfox ® S8 Mini-Display kann um weitere
Module, eine Wettervorhersage oder um die
Darstellung des Eigenstromverbrauchs ergänzt
werden. Somit kann der selbst produzierte
Strom optimiert genutzt werden und Verbraucher
wie z. B. die Waschmaschine oder der
Wäschetrockner können gezielt eingeschalten
werden. Der Vorteil liegt in den verminderten
Stromkosten, die aus dem vermiedenen
Strombezug resultieren und der zusätzlichen
EEG-Förderung des Eigenstromverbrauchs
(Deutschland).
Ob Küche, Schlafzimmer, Wohnzimmer oder
Büro, Solarfox ® S8 kann dank WLAN einfach
installiert und in Betrieb genommen werden.
Der Datenzugriff erfolgt via Internet und wird
durch eine einmalige Registrierung eingerichtet,
auch bei älteren Anlagen.
The new Solarfox ® S8 mini display is now available.
With a screen diagonal of 20 cm (8”) it is
the ideal addition to the Solar-Log . The display
utilizes attractive graphics and diagrams to
show daily, monthly, annual and total yield, as
well as power consumption and total CO2 emissions
avoided. The user has the option of calling
up his yield data manually via the touch screen
or run it as a presentation (slide show). It can
also be used as an Internet radio, MP3 player,
radio alarm and digital photo frame.
The Solarfox ® S8 mini display can be supplemented
with further modules, a weather forecast
or to display consumption of self-produced
power. In this way the self-produced power can
be used in the best possible way and consumers,
such as a washing machine or a washerdryer
can be switched on at the right time. The
advantage lies in reduced power costs that result
from not having to pay for power and the
additional EEG promotion of consuming selfproduced
power (Germany).
Thanks to WLAN the Solarfox ® S8 can be installed
and set up easily in a kitchen, bedroom,
lounge or office. Data is accessed via the Internet
and is set up by a one-off registration, even
for older systems.
Intersolar North America
Solar Data Systems, Inc. (SDSI), our subsidiary in
the USA, took part in the Intersolar North America
Trade Fair in San Francisco in July.
The growth in the industry has been enormous
compared with the previous year and can be
seen as a positive sign,” said Anton Kaeslin, CEO
of SDSI, America. The exhibition was really successful
with 839 exhibitors in 16,000 square
metres of exhibition space and 20,000 national
and international visitors.
For SDSI it was an ideal platform to present
Solar-Log products and especially the highlights,
such as the string connection box, easy
installation, WiFi and smart metering. “During
the exhibition SDSI was able to strengthen existing
customer contacts and make new contacts,”
said Anton Kaeslin.

Dino Zavatta (Geschäftsführer novagrid ag) / (Managing Director of novagrid ag)
Im Juni 2011 haben wir mit der Firma
novagrid ag einen neuen Solar-Log Exklusiv-
Partner für die Märkte Schweiz und das
Fürstentum Liechtenstein gewinnen können.
Die Firma novagrid ag, mit Sitz im Kanton Aargau
(Baden-Rütihof), ist ein junges Start-up-
Unternehmen mit dem obersten Ziel, im Bereich
erneuerbare Energien zu einem starken Partner
heran zu wachsen. Unabhängig davon, ob Ihre
Anfrage in Deutsch, Französisch, Italienisch
oder in English an Solar-Log Schweiz herangetragen
wird, unser Ansprechpartner Herr Dino
Zavatta (Geschäftsführer novagrid ag) wird Sie
gerne kompetent beraten und betreuen.
Solar-Log Schulungen
solar-log.ch publiziert. Herr Zavatta ist davon
überzeugt, dass die Schulungen in der Schweiz
großen Anklang finden werden und eine gute
Gelegenheit bieten, um die Solar-Log Produkte
Marktüberblick Schweiz
Seit Anfang 2009 wird die Stromproduktion aus
erneuerbaren Energien in der Schweiz durch
eine kostendeckende Einspeisevergütung (KEV)
gefördert. Im Moment stehen über 8.600 Solarstromanlagen
auf der Warteliste der nationalen
Netzgesellschaft Swissgrid. Das entspricht
einem Investitionsvolumen von 1.4 Milliarden
Franken bzw. einem Potential von 220 Millionen
kWh Solarstrom. Diese Solarstrommenge
ist ausreichend, um 75‘000 Vierpersonenhaushalte,
ausgestattet mit effizienten Lampen und
Haushaltsgeräten, mit Strom zu versorgen.
Swisssolar-Plan: 20 Prozent
Solarstrom bis ins Jahr 2025
Das oberste Ziel des Schweizerischen Fachverbandes
für Sonnenenergie „Swisssolar“ ist,
dass bis ins Jahr 2025 bereits 20 Prozent des
heutigen Stromverbrauchs mit Schweizer Photovoltaik-Anlagen
erzeugt werden.
Das entspricht der Hälfte der Stromproduktion
der Schweizerischen AKW’s. Somit kann Solarenergie
neben der Wasserkraft zur tragenden
Säule der zukünftigen Stromversorgung werden.
Einer Stromversorgung, die sich vollständig auf
erneuerbare Energien stützt.
Overview of the Swiss market
Since the beginning of 2009 power production
from renewable energies has been encouraged
by a cost-covering buy back price (KEV). At the
moment there are more than 8,600 solar power
units on the waiting list of the national grid
company, Swissgrid. This is equivalent to an investment
of 1.4 billion Swiss francs or a potential
220 million kWh of solar power. This amount
of solar power is sufficient to supply power to
75,000 four person households equipped with
efficient lighting and household appliances.
Swisssolar plan:
20 % solar power by 2025
The main aim of the Swiss professional association
for solar energy, Swisssolar is that 20 %
of current power consumption will be produced
by Swiss photovoltaic systems by 2025. This
is equivalent to half of the power produced by
Swiss nuclear power stations. Thus solar energy
as well as hydro-electric power will be the
mainstay of future energy supplies. A power
supply that relies completely on renewable energies.
TIPS & TRICKS
Ohne Umwege: Konfigurationsund
Ertragsdaten vom USB-
Log.
No detours: To transfer configuration and yield data
from a USB stick to the Solar-Log
Procedure: Configuration and yield data can be imported
directly from the USB stick to the Solar-Log . To do this
the files must be in a their own folder named „BACKUP“.
The files must be named as follows: solarlog_backup.
dat and solarlog_config.dat. The Solar-Log files are not
identified in the root directory of the USB stick.
Please note: The USB stick must be in FAT32 format. A Solar-Log
with a firmware older than version 2.0.3 cannot detect any 2GB USB
sticks.
User name and password must be stored on several SIM cards.
Special GPRS configuration features for O2
and Vodafone.
Benutzen Sie dazu
beispielsweise die Zeichenfolge „1234“.
Solution:
It is only planned to enter the APN to gain access to O2
(E/D1) and Vodafone (D2). The user name and password
should be left blank. With some SIM cards it is necessary
to fill in „User name“ and „Password“. We recommend
filling in the user name and password fields as well as the
APN. For this use the character string 1234, for example.
Solar-Log Firmware update –
mögliche Anzeigefehler einfach
2.5.0-39 kann es vorkommen, dass die interne Webseite
des Solar-Log beim ersten Aufruf fehlerhafte Zeichen
anzeigt. Der Grund hierfür ist eine interne Umstrukturierung
des Solar-Log Menü.
Solution:
After installing the current Solar-Log firmware 2.5.0-
39, the internal Solar-Log website may display incorrect
characters when it is first called up. The reason for this is
an internal restructuring of the Solar-Log menu.
Incorrect displays on the internal Solar-Log website can simply be
removed by pressing F5.
