and production have fuelled our growth and success, first in Germany and

The HHCM driver, a new development by AUDIO PHYSIC, uses a radically novel basket design to minimise resonances. Moving parts such as the
diaphragm, the surround, the spider and the voice coil are held in proper alignment by a plastic basket designed to achieve a maximum degree of
internal damping.
The neodymium magnet powering the system is encased in a diecast aluminium heat sink which is connected to the wide basket rim via
slim bridges.
The aluminium diaphragm takes full advantage of Active Cone Damping II, AUDIO PHYSIC’s further refined state-of-the-art technology implemented
to avoid ringing resonances normally associated with stiff diaphragms.

The tweeter that you can’t hear!
Cone tweeters, notorious for being used in cheap loudspeakers picked off the
supermarket shelves, went out of fashion years ago. New light weight, soft
materials were implemented to reduce the overall moving mass, however these
materials also required a new geometry to ensure stiffness and stability: The
dome. With the introduction of new, stiff and yet lightweight materials, the use
of dome-shaped tweeters is becoming questionable. Soft domes tend to wear out
at an early stage where the movement at the rim is different from the movement
occurring in the interior zone. As a result, the dome starts “to ring” where it
adds its own audible colorations to the signal. Instead of hearing the music, you
hear the sonic signature of a ringing tweeter. Light, stiff membrane material does
not need to struggle with the trade-offs involved in using domes – therefore, in the
case of midrange drivers, the use of domes has practically dissolved into thin air over
the past couple of years. AUDIO PHYSIC took the next logical step by further exploring
the subject of cone membranes in tweeter systems. Already the first samples convinced the
audience with their holographic reproduction displaying an unparalleled degree of plasticity.
The HYPER HOLOGRAPHIC CONE TWEETER has an extremely lightweight and stiff aluminium
diaphragm, coated with ceramic. The suspension is applied to the rim. Nothing prevents the
sound from travelling out of the voice coil, reinforced by fibre glass, to the diaphragm.
The tweeter is driven by a magnet system arranged of four Neodymium plates ensuring
a particular high performance and efficiency.

Der Hochtöner, der wirklich nicht klingt
Konushochtöner, bekannt aus billigen Supermarktboxen, kamen vor Jahren aus der
Mode. Leichte, weiche Materialien, die aus Gewichtsgründen bei Hochtönern zum
Einsatz gelangten, erforderten eine stabilisierende Geometrie: die Kalotte. Doch mit
der Einführung neuer, steifer und trotzdem leichter Werkstoffe erscheint die
Kalottenform immer fragwürdiger. Weiche Kalotten neigen schon sehr früh zum
Aufbrechen: Ihre Ränder führen eine andere Bewegung aus als ihr Innenbereich.
Folge: die Kalotte „klingelt“, das heißt, sie fügt dem Signal eigene, ursprünglich
nicht vorhandene Obertöne bei. Sie hören weniger die Musik als den Hochtöner.
Leichte und steife Membranwerkstoffe sind nicht auf die kompromissbehaftete
Kalottenform angewiesen – im Mitteltonbereich ist sie daher schon seit Jahren
weitgehend von der Bildfläche verschwunden. Was lag also näher, als auch im
Hochtonbereich das Thema Konusmembran neu zu erforschen. Schon die ersten
Muster begeisterten selbst kritische Ohren mit einer völlig vom Lautsprecher gelösten,
holografischen Wiedergabe.
Der HYPER HOLOGRAPHIC CONE TWEETER verfügt über eine extrem leichte und
verwindungssteife Membran aus keramikbeschichtetem Aluminium. Die Aufhängung erfolgt am
äußeren Rand der speziell geformten Membran. Der Schall kann sich ungebremst von der glasfaserverstärkten
Schwingspule in die Membran ausbreiten. Den Antrieb übernimmt ein besonders
leistungsfähiges, aus mehreren Neodymplatten aufgebautes Magnetsystem. Das Resultat:
ein holografischer, scheinbar aus dem Nichts kommender Klang ohne den üblichen -
manchmal zunächst interessanten - Sound konventioneller Hochtöner.

being made to the VIRGO V. Never before in the long VIRGO success story has a redesign of
a predecessor model been completed to such an extent. In terms of loudspeaker technology,

Avanti means “forward”: The fourth
generation of a success model. The
AVANTI V has gone into production with
a completely new cabinet design, new
drivers and crossovers. The Hyper Holographic
Cone Tweeter, a new and most recent
AUDIO PHYSIC development, provides highs
in a new dimension. Coupled with state-ofthe-art
technology ranging from a magnet
system built of four Neodymium plates to
ceramic coated aluminium diaphragms,
cone tweeters as well as high frequency
reproduction pioneer new standards. The
cabinet got a new, sophisticated structure
making it lighter, more rigid, and above all,
more efficient. The inside of the new
AVANTI is marked by numerous apertures
and slits to just below the exterior surface
of the cabinet. This is a highly efficient
means to drastically extend the relevant
surface area as well as significantly increase
the cabinet volume. The cabinet is an open
sandwich construction engineered for high
internal damping to eliminate structural
resonances, making little use of additional
absorbing materials. Through the intelligent
combination of several high damping
materials, AUDIO PHYSIC has achieved a
cabinet design capable of eliminating still
existing cabinet resonance and coloration
right from the start.
Avanti, es geht voran: Die nunmehr vierte
Generation einer Erfolgsserie. Die AVANTI V
tritt mit neu konzipiertem Gehäuse, Treibern
und Frequenzweichen an. Im Hochtonbereich
arbeitet eine eigenständige neue Entwicklung
von AUDIO PHYSIC – der Hyper Holographic
Cone Tweeter. Aufgebaut mit feinster Technologie
– vom aus mehreren Neodymplatten aufgebauten
Magnetsystem bis zur keramikbeschichteten
Aluminiummembran – ergibt sich

Gehäusevolumen vergrößert sich signifikant.
Diese offene Sandwich konstruktion aus einer
hochdämpfenden Mischung verschiedener
Materialien „ver arbeitet“ die ins Gehäuse
abgestrahlte Energie sehr wirkungsvoll –
Gehäuseklang hat keine Chance.

The coaxial arranged tweeter-midrange-unit is based upon
technologies which were originally introduced in the KRONOS.

The CALDERA is a three-and-half-way
loudspeaker fitted with coaxial tweetermidrange
drivers. In other words, the two

the acoustic ideal of a point source.

Even for a renowned company like AUDIO PHYSIC a new chapter is
about to unfold as the KRONOS loudspeaker takes central stage. The
no-compromise, partly-active three-and-a-half-way design of the
loudspeaker not only lifts the entire system that decisive bit closer to
the pure live experience, it also represents a fundamental shift away
from conventional loudspeaker design. In the end our novel approach,
which was courageous and ingenious from inception to execution, has
lead to the creation of a truly unique loudspeaker which brings
magnificently fine detailing and beauti fully layered perspectives to your
listening room without turning it into a room full of audio equipment.
State-of-the-art technology leads to the design of a narrow baffle
where excellent radiation behaviour is combined with full-range sound
performance. The four „XXL“ woofers are mounted back-to-back on the
opposite sides of the woofer chamber in two separate blocks.

Due to the slim and graceful design with its
rounded cabinet sides the SPARK is a visual
stunner tuned for optimum elimination of
standing waves – here the SPARK shares the
same qualities with the redeveloped TEMPO
loudspeaker. The cabinet sides are not parallel
to each other and therefore the possibility
of standing waves is severely reduced. The
cabinet is generously fitted with structural
elements that divide the interior into smaller
sections and also contribute to the elimination
of standing waves.

The 2007 upgrade of the TEMPO includes subtle visual touches as well as essential technical
features. Just like its larger sister, the VIRGO V, the 6th incarnation of the success
model has been revamped with the groundbreaking HHCM (Hyper Holographic Cone
Midrange). Combined with the newly designed soft dome tweeter and much more powerful
woofers, sporting a rigid aluminium diaphragm, the new TEMPO excels at delivering a more
energetic yet slightly softer and more transparent sound.

YARA II – The next generation. To continue the phenomenal success story of the past six years,
AUDIO PHYSIC has decided it is time to revamp its Yara line by creating a new top model – the
YARA ll Superior. All technical components underwent a full facelift representing the cutting
edge of technology and loudspeaker design. A nice touch is the cosmetic refinement to update
the look of the loudspeaker. The new oval-shaped grilles of the YARA ll Superior are mounted by
special screws using an AUDIO PHYSIC technology developed for the prestigious SCORPIO and
AVANTI models. Drilling holes or inserting plastic anchors into the YARA baffle has now become
a thing of the past. Compared to the first YARA generation, the new terminal is now made of
aluminium and fitted with elaborate gold-plated connectors.
An emerging generation of woofer/midrange drivers, implemented here for the first time, sets a
new benchmark with more powerful magnets, larger and longer voice coils as well as more
sophisticated diaphragms, spiders and surrounds. Small and large signal behaviour is thereby
further increased whereas distortions are further reduced.
The YARA II SUPERIOR comes as a true 3-way loudspeaker built according to the principle of
AUDIO PHYSIC’s push-push technology where the loudspeaker manufacturer found a possibility of
making a perfect technology even more perfect. The two side-firing 7’’ woofers are effectively arranged
back to back just above the bottom base of the loudspeaker. Their stable aluminium diaphragms move
simultaneously in the same direction, either inwards or outwards, whereas a reactive movement of the
cabinet can be prevented from the start. In addition, vibrations transmitted from the loudspeakers are
compensated. The use of a very low crossover frequency between the woofers and midrange allows
easy positioning of the loudspeakers where the distance to walls or furniture can be quite small.
Die YARA II SUPERIOR ist ein echter 3-Wege Lautsprecher mit der von AUDIO PHYSIC nochmals
perfektionierten Push-Push Technik. Die zwei seitlich angeordneten 17cm Tieftöner sitzen sich knapp
über dem Sockel direkt gegenüber. Ihre stabilen Aluminiummembranen bewegen sich im Gleichtakt
entweder nach innen oder nach außen. Relativbewegungen des Gehäuses können so erst gar nicht entstehen.
Vibrationen, die von den Lautsprechern ausgehen, kompensieren sich.
Die sehr tiefe Übernahmefrequenz zum Mitteltöner ermöglicht eine problemlose Aufstellung - der seitliche
Abstand zur Wand oder zu Möbeln kann sehr gering gewählt werden.

AUDIO PHYSIC seiner YARA Baureihe eine Frischzellenkur und ein neues Topmodell – YARA ll
Superior. Alle technischen Zutaten sind neu konstruiert und repräsentieren den aktuellsten
Stand der Lautsprechertechnik. Das optische Erscheinungsbild ist dezent verfeinert.
Die jetzt ovalen Lautsprecherabdeckungen werden von Spezialschrauben gehalten, einer von
AUDIO PHYSIC entwickelten Technik, die Modelle wie z.B. SCORPIO oder AVANTI auszeichnet -
Löcher oder Kunststoffdübel in der YARA-Schallwand gehören damit der Vergangenheit an.
Die erstmalig eingesetzte neue Generation von Tiefmitteltönern setzt neue Maßstäbe durch
stärkere Antriebe, größere und länger gewickelte Schwingspulen auf glasfaserverstärkten
Trägern, sowie verfeinerte Membranen, Sicken und Zentrierungen. Fein- und Grobdynamik sind
nochmals gesteigert und Verzerrungen weiter reduziert.

Aluminium is also the material of choice for AUDIO PHYSIC when it comes to the front of the
new tweeter forming the stable and at the same time low-resonance carrier of the powerful
double magnet system. The generous provision of plenty of volume behind the coated soft dome
as well as the copper-plated pole piece are key to ensuring a high frequency reproduction which
can only be described as perfectly smooth and utterly laid-back.

frustrating than a center loudspeaker where the dynamic passages
compress and distort. AUDIO PHYSIC’s HIGH END CENTER does not
compromise. Based on the technology and sound performance of
highly successful models such as the Tempo and Scorpio, the center is
a perfect match for them in a sophisticated home cinema system. The
heavily braced cabinet is elegantly curved and comes with the typical
7° angle.

The current version of our Reference Center is loaded with state-of-the-art technology in
loudspeaker design. It is the first center designed with a combination of Hyper Holographic
Cone Tweeter and Hyper Holographic Cone Midrange. As a special touch, in order to complete
the AVANTI III, the center is also available with a ring radiator (REFERENCE CENTER RR).

glass, supported by slim satin aluminium bars. In short: A solid and exquisitely designed

to be a nearly insurmountable barrier to resonances. Apart from adding to the good looks
of the SHERPA, the VCT can also positively enrich the sound performance of your bookshelf
