BMW SAILING CUP
2013 sees the already 8 th edition of the annually
organized BMW Sailing Cup, the largest nonprofessional
regatta series in the world. The concept
of this BMW Yachtsport event is focused on team
spirit, the joy of sailing and equal opportunities;
indeed, the composition of the participating crews
is certainly a special feature: all participants apply
individually and are randomly drawn into teams.
Consequently, team members do not know each
other and have not been sailing previously together
on the same boat and need to form a team according
to their individual skills and experience.
The BMW Sailing Cup has several levels within
a season. First of all, each participating country
hosts several regattas in various regions within the
country. In Germany, there are usually between
8 and 10 venues hosting the BMW Sailing Cup
regattas on a local level. In the next step, the winning
teams of individual events in a country meet each
other in the national final in the respective countries.
Last but not least, the winners on the national level
compete in the BMW Sailing Cup International Final
against each other for the international championship
title.
Marinepool is the official clothing supplier of the
BMW Sailing Cup for the local regattas held in
Germany, for the German championship as well
as for the international final. The participants are
equipped with performance sailing clothing, a BMW
Sailing Cup participant polo shirt, caps and a life
jacket. Furthermore, the BMW staff and organization
team of the corresponding BMW Sailing Cup events
are dressed with Marinepool shirts and jackets.
Since the regatta runs from April to end of October,
highly functional clothing with comfortable cuts and
attractive design branded with the BMW Sailing Cup
logo is indispensable to ensure that difficult weather
and wind conditions are no obstacle to the event‘s
successful concept.
