The breathability of functional clothing
is to a high grade determined
by the kind of clothing worn
underneath i.e. that breath able functional
underwear and a complementing
middle layer are worn.

MARINEPOOL MPU-COATING
Is used for several models of our
collection and was tried and tested
over years, top results in many tests
of renown magazines speak for
themselves. In a highly sophisticated
production process a polyurethane
layer is applied onto Nylon or
Polyester outside fabrics. This layer
has microscopic pores, small
enough to block the bigger molecules
of raindrops and spray but big
enough to let the smaller molecules
of dampness from inside pass outside.
The durability of gear equipped
with this technology is highly
dependent on proper maintenance.

MARINEPOOL DWR EQUIPMENT
Durable Water Repellency
The best protection from dirt and
moisture. Through the DWRimpregnation
a thin invisible protection
film is applied around the fibres
which makes water drops run off
without penetrating the fabric. This
technology works in the same way
regarding oil and other moist substances
capable of leaving
permanent stains on the clothing,
thus keeping it clean. Use a piece of
cloth to wipe off any substance of

MARINEPOOL RIPSTOP
The term ripstop summarizes all
fabrics sharing common characteristics
of specially woven cloth designed
to stop any hole in the fabric
from growing by the use of thicker,
more tear resistant threads in the
weaving pattern. This technology
was initially used for sails and parachutes
and has found its way into
clothing.
MARINEPOOL Functional Lining
Numerous models of our functional
jackets are equipped with functional
lining. This lining, made from Polyester,
is used in specific areas
where perspiration is highest (e.g.
the back). The lining actively
absorbs moisture and conveys it to
the membrane through which it can
diffuse outside. Further more this
lining is very elastic and is excellently
suited for use in jackets with
stretch fabric.
MARINEPOOL Softshell
SOFTSHELL is not only protecting
you perfectly against wind, rain,
snow and cold, it is as comfortable
as a fleece jacket. It combines the
advantages of a fleece jacket with
the reliable protection of a funct -
ional jacket. Due to the stretch
feature and the slim cut it is very
suitable for sportsmen who want to
protect themselves without losing
their freedom to move. Waterproof:
totally impervious to water (10.000
mm), breath able: allows perspiration
to escape, wind stop: protects
the body against cooling, due to
fleece lining seams remain untaped.
MARINEPOOL FLEECE
BONDED MICROFLEECE
Two micro fleece layers are laminated
onto each other resulting in an
extremely windproof and warm
fleece. Anti-pilling technology keeps
fluff from gathering into small balls
on the surface of a fabric. Furthermore
Marinepool uses special tight
woven fleece which provides additional
warmth and durability.

SUPRATEX-REINFORCEMENT:
Neoprene suits have the highest
strain at knees and seat. Supratex
reinforcements are extremely tough
and abrasion resistant and improve
the life span of your suit substantially.

MARINEPOOL Standards
DIN NORM WATERPROOFNESS
Already little resistance like 1300
mm water column fabrics can be
called “waterproof“ according to
Deutsche Industrie-Norm (German
industrial standards).
This of course tells nothing about
the big differences in fabrics and
conditions in which they are used.
There is a big difference between
wearing clothes in a light November
rain or in rough conditions of a
storm in the Southern Ocean. Gear
used every day on a yacht obviously
has to be a lot tougher than
ordinary clothes.
Pressure on a fabric while sitting or
kneeling is a lot higher than in normal
conditions and 1.300mm are
nowhere close to guarantee the
protection needed to keep the body
dry and comfortable. Therefore
functional gear made by Marinepool
is designed for different purposes,
our waterproof gear ranges from
4.000 to 20.000 mm water column
to make sure you stay dry whatever
conditions you might be into.
