as i am getting into my car in the morning, i bump the steering wheel
with my legs. My wife, who is much shorter than i am, used the car to
go out last night. But thanks to the memory function i can move the
driver’s seat back into the programmed position that is perfect for me completely
automatically. The sun is shining, so i lower the side window. even
before starting the engine, i have in all probability already used two systems
from Brose Fahrzeugteile GmbH & co. kG, the fourth largest family-owned
supplier to the automotive industry in the world. Because: every third new
vehicle built in the world today is fitted with at least one product from Brose.
the Brose Group can trace its origins back to 1908. It was then that a young salesman
named Max Brose opened an automobile equipment retail shop in Berlin. the
First world war put an abrupt end to the thriving young company. But by 1919 the
entrepreneur and his partner ernst Jühling had founded Metallwerk Max Brose &
Co. in Coburg. From this time on, the company’s business area was expanded to include
the manufacture of car parts. over the following decades, the family-owned
business introduced a succession of innovative products onto the market. In 1926,
the company developed the world’s first crank drive for lowerable windows. this
product, which went into mass production just two years later, was the subject
of enormous demand and turned Brose into the market leader in this field. the
success of this enterprise was cut short by another world war. But in the autumn
of 1948 Max Brose resumed management of Metallwerk, which soon began supplying
window lifters for the production of the vw Beetle. In 1963 Brose began
mass production of the “window lifter with electronic drive”. Five years later, Brose
began production of seat recliner mechanisms for adjusting the backrest.
In 1971, the company founder’s grandson Michael Stoschek took over the reins of
Metallwerk Max Brose & Co. at the age of 23. over the next 34 years, Mr Stoschek
transformed the family enterprise into a corporate group with a global presence.
today, as a partner to the international automobile industry Brose supplies about
80 automotive brands and more than 30 components suppliers with mechatronic
systems and electric motors. approximately 21,000 employees work for Brose at
53 locations in 23 countries, and in all major automotive markets. In the last financial
year, the company generated sales of about 4.5 billion euro. worldwide, it
produces more than 13 million door systems, over 52 million window lifters and
14 million lock modules. the family enterprise is the market leader in all three
sectors. and still this is only a small excerpt from its product spectrum. any business
can only attain such a position in this fast-paced market through constant
refinement of its own products. and this is why, as ever before, Brose remains
synonymous with innovation. with more than 250 patent applications per year,
the automotive supplier is one of the 30 most active patent applicants in Germany.
which makes re-ordering much easier for the customer. If a hose line on a machine
fails, all Brose needs to do is call the hanSa-FleX branch and quote the corresponding
X-CoDe. our employees produce an identical replacement hose line immediately
and deliver it to the Brose plant in hallstadt with all possible dispatch.
