From the year 1440 on the Dukes of Brunswick imitated Groschen from Saxony and
Hesse, but reducing their intrinsic value. These actually are not considered as real forgeries,
but as a fraud, deliberately intended. Mainly imitated are thirds of Groschen with
lion's shield and „Two shields"-Groschen from Hesse. Further the author is discussing
forgeries by Seeländer.

Statistical study on the percentage of 20 Kreuzer pieces from 14 Bavarian hoards ending
between 1791 and 1821. The composition concerning the minting authorities and the time
of the issues are investigated as well as the statistical composition concerning the different
minting authorities. In the case of the Habsburg monarchy one is able to compare the absolute
numbers of coins struck according to the written sources with the quantities and
different years of issue, as represented in the hoards. Out of the evidence of hoards one
can draw conclusions concerning coin circulation and minting activity.

The die for the jubilee medal, cut by E. Wankmüller is dated into the year 1955. For the
1991 issue the artist has removed the old signature and replaced by the new one.
