<strong>Jahreshauptversammlung</strong> am Mittwoch, den 6. Mai 2009<br />
Wir erinnern an die <strong>Jahreshauptversammlung</strong> am Mittwoch, den 6. Mai 2009. Die Einladungen werden heute verschickt.<br />
In diesem Jahr scheiden die folgenden Vorstandsmitglieder turnusgemäß aus: die Herren Dietz, Rickens und Schnabel.<br />
Herr Dietz und Herr Schnabel stellen sich zur Wiederwahl zur Verfügung. Sollten Sie Interesse haben, sich aktiv am<br />
Schulgeschehen zu beteiligen, möchten wir Sie einladen, sich zur Mitarbeit in den Vorstand als Kandidat zu bewerben. Es<br />
wird vor allen Dingen jemand mit Erfahrungen im Finanzwesen gesucht. Formulare liegen in der Verwaltung aus und<br />
müssen bis Donnerstag, den 30. April 2009 wieder in der Verwaltung abgegeben werden.<br />
Wichtig: Aus aktuellem Anlass wird Prof Nan Yeld, Independent Education Board (IEB), zu Beginn der Versammlung<br />
sprechen und stellt sich für allgemeine Fragen zur Verfügung.<br />
Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 6 May 2009<br />
We would like to remind you of our AGM on Wednesday, 6 May 2009. Invitations will be sent out today. The following<br />
Management Board members step down by rota this year: Messrs Dietz, Rickens and Schnabel. Mr Dietz and Mr<br />
Schnabel are available for re-election. Should you be interested in actively participating in school matters, we would like<br />
to invite you to apply as a candidate for the Management Board. We would especially like to appeal to someone with<br />
experience in finance to apply. Forms for suitable nominations may be collected from the Admin office to be returned<br />
before Thursday, 30 April 2009.<br />
Important: In the light of current events Prof Nan Yeld, Independent Education Board (IEB), will speak at the beginning<br />
of the meeting and will be happy to answer questions.<br />

Die DSK will in Zukunft SMS nutzen, um Sie in dringenden Fällen zu<br />

Freedom Swim<br />
Starke Regenfälle und Nebel machten eine Durchführung des Freedom Swims am Samstag unmöglich. Doch am Sonntag<br />
war es dann soweit. Alle Starter waren seit 07:00h auf den Beinen und fieberten dem Start entgegen. Doch dies sollte<br />
noch eine Weile dauern, da erneut dicke Nebelfelder den Start verzögerten. Etwa 13:30h startete Sergio auf Robben<br />
Island und eröffnete für das Team der DSK den Wettbewerb. Kristen Bredenkamp, Saskia Brink und Max Schröder gaben<br />
als Staffelmitglieder mit Sergio Rodrigues ihr Bestes und kamen nach nur 2 Stunden und 22 Minuten am Strand von Big<br />
Bay an. Sie alle meisterten die Wellen, die Strömung und das kalte Wasser, schwammen mit Pinguinen und Robben und<br />
überholten andere Teilnehmer und eben auch die tierischen Weggefährten.<br />
Für alle war dies ein besonderes und bleibendes Erlebnis.<br />
Gut gemacht!<br />
Freedom Swim<br />
Heavy rains and mist prevented the Freedom Swim from taking place on Saturday. But on Sunday we were able to start.<br />
All participants were astir since 07:00h and champed at the bit before the start. However, the wait was not over, as<br />
dense fog once again delayed the start. At approximately 13:30h Sergio started off the competition for the DSK team<br />
from Robben Island. The relay team consisting of Kristen Bredenkamp, Saskia Brink and Max Schröder gave their best<br />
shot along with Sergio Rodrigues and arrived at Big Bay just 2 hours and 22 minutes later. They all braved the waves,<br />
the current and the cold water, swam with penguins and seals and overtook other competitors as well as the animal<br />
companions along the way.<br />
This was an exceptional and lasting experience for all.<br />

Besuch bei HOKISA<br />
Am Montag, den 6. April besuchten wir, Michaela Fernandez, Bettina Köditz, Dirk<br />
Schulz, Stefan Dahse und Ingrid Rode das Kinderheim HOKISA. Groß war unsere<br />
Freude festzustellen, dass einige Kinder uns noch mit Namen kannten und sich<br />
ihrerseits freuten uns wiederzusehen.<br />
Diesmal boten wir verschiedene Aktivitäten rund um das Thema Ostern an. Zum<br />
Abschluss gab es eine kleine Osterüberraschung im selbstgebastelten Körbchen.<br />
Eine Bitte an die Schulgemeinschaft: HOKISA benötigt dringend Holzbauklötze.<br />
Wenn Sie helfen können, geben Sie bitte die Bauklötze bei Frau Still in der
Rezeption ab.<br />
Visit to HOKISA<br />
On Monday, 6 April we, Michaela Fernandez, Bettina Köditz, Dirk Schulz, Stefan Dahse and Ingrid Rode visited the<br />
children’s home HOKISA. Imagine our joy when some of the children still knew our names and were happy to see us<br />
again.<br />
This time we offered various activities around the Easter theme. At the end of the visit they received a small Easter<br />
surprise in a hand-crafted basket.<br />
We have a request to the school community: HOKISA desperately needs wooden building blocks. If you can help, please<br />
hand these blocks to Ms Still in Reception.<br />
Basartreffen<br />
Das erste Treffen für Basarvertreter wird am Mittwoch, den 13. Mai um 19:00h im Raum G3 stattfinden. Dieser Raum<br />
befindet sich am Bolzplatz (auf dem Sie auch je nach Platz parken dürfen). Es wäre gut, wenn zumindest ein Vertreter<br />
von jeder Klasse anwesend sein könnte. Julia Laufs-Engelhard (083 675-6811), Schriftführerin, bittet um Nachricht,<br />
wenn weder der Vertreter noch der Stellvertreter dabei sein können.<br />
Bazaar Meeting<br />
The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, 13 May at 19:00h in room G3. This room is situated at the Bolzplatz<br />
(where you may also park, subject to availability). It would be great if at least one representative of each class could<br />
attend. Please notify Julia Laufs-Engelhard (083 675-6811), Secretary, if neither you nor your deputy is able to attend.<br />

GLMZ Playtime<br />
Die Klavierschüler von Cherry Olivier werden am Samstag, den 16. Mai um 16:00h<br />
im KTS bei einem informellen Konzert ihr Können am Klavier mit Ihnen teilen. Gäste<br />
sind willkommen und der Eintritt ist frei. Das Konzert, für Schüler von Klasse 1 bis<br />
Abitur, wird ca. 1 Stunde dauern und viel Abwechslung bieten.<br />
GLMZ Playtime<br />
The piano pupils of Cherry Olivier will demonstrate their prowess at an informal<br />
concert in the KTS on Saturday, 16 May at 16:00h. Guests are welcome and<br />
entrance is free. The concert will last about an hour and students range from Grade<br />
1 to Abitur level, so there will be some variety.<br />
Fußball AG<br />
Die Spieltermine (fixtures) für den Term 2 stehen fest. Leider ergeben sich bei einigen Altersklassen noch einige<br />
Schwierigkeiten, sodass wir zunächst nur die Spielpläne der U9, U11 und U13 mitteilen können. Die Termine, die<br />

The game dates (fixtures) for term 2 have been set. Unfortunately there are still a few problems with various age<br />
groups, which means that at present we are only able to inform you of the fixtures for U9, U11 and U13. The fixed dates<br />

Conexio Hubschraubertag<br />
Der Hubschraubertag findet am Samstag, den 16. Mai 2009 von 10:00 - 17:00h an der V&A Waterfront, East Pier Road,<br />
NAC Makana, statt. Preis pro Person: R700 für ca. 20 Minuten (bis Hout Bay). Bei schlechtem Wetter ist der Samstag,<br />
23. Mai vorgesehen. Vorbuchung ist nicht nötig, kann aber an der DSK (Frau Fröhlich 021 4803835) vorgenommen<br />
werden. Alle sind herzlich willkommen.<br />
Conexio Helicopter Day<br />
The Helicopter Day will take place on Saturday, 16 May 2009 from 10:00 until 17:00h at the V&A Waterfront, East Pier<br />
Road, NAC Makana. The cost per person is: R700 for approx. 20 mins. (to Hout Bay). In the case of bad weather<br />
Saturday, 23 May will be the alternative date. Reservations are not necessary, but may be made at the DSK (Mrs<br />
