The ad hoc committee
An ad hoc committee of member
groups in the Deutscher Frauenrat
was also actively involved in preparing
for the campaign. The basis for their
action was a resolution passed by the
General Assembly of the Deutscher
Frauenrat in 2005 to support the
campaign in imaginative and wideranging
ways as well as locally
wherever possible, i.e. with special
attention to the twelve cities that
were to host the World Cup games.
Regional alliances
The campaign had a decentralised
character. Both the regional and local
chapters of the network partners as
well as the member organisations
of the Deutscher Frauenrat were
called upon to form regional and local
alliances and carry out joint actions.
Numerous other initiatives and
organisations joined the campaign
following the appeal of 8 March
2006 (International Women‘s Day).
Especially during the period between
the opening game of the World
Cup on June 9 2006 and the final
game on July 9, many activities were
carried out throughout the country
under the motto of “Final Whistle
– Stop Forced Prostitution“ (Abpfiff
– Schluss mit Zwangsprostitution).
