Abstract
Since a long time the so called "burn out syndrome" plays an important role for medical
care professionals. This scientific study focused on the analysis of the actual stress load
relating to the management personnel. The known literature gives us an overview about
burn out, resilience, critical tasks and conflicts existing in the "sandwich constellation" of
the medical care management. The analysis using questionnaires (Maslach Burnout
Inventory german version [MBI-D], Resilience Scale-25 [RS-25] and selected specified
questions) took place in 14 medical care centers in region of Tirol and Vorarlberg, Austria.
From november to december 2011, 46 health care management personnel were analyzed.
Of all questionnaires 32 (69.57%) were answered and returned properly. Detail analysis
tried to detect particularities for the day to day routine, markers that signalize burn out and
resilience and a possible cross link of these features. The achieved results demonstrate a
low risk for burn out and depicted the collective as highly capable for resilience. The
majority of the management personnel was included regularly in decision making, was
highly respected in the team and by higher management structures. Tendentially a high
percentage of our collective was trained very well to react properly and immediately to
actual problems, but requested more time for their duties.
