both a threshold and a slope (Langholz und Richardson 2010; Neriishi et al. 2007).
The draft of the time and cost plan points out that a study is combined with high costs, even
if the study duration is planned for 3 years. A considerable part of the costs consists of the
payments to examining ophthalmologists, which still have to be negotiated. On account of
the costs and effort and the necessity to check the methods a piloting of recruitment up to
the final evaluation of eye examinations is highly recommended. In view of a pooled
analysis of the data of this new study with those of ongoing or finished European studies, an
exchange with the research groups involved is necessary in order to benefit from their
practical experiences (which have already been included in this work) and to raise and
evaluate data in a compatible way.
