International drivers’ licenses are not recognized in <strong>Nigeria</strong>. Drivers may apply for a <strong>Nigeria</strong>n<br />
driving license, however issue <strong>of</strong> the license can take several months and foreigners may<br />
need to adjust to the <strong>Nigeria</strong>n driving style. Charges for a <strong>Nigeria</strong>n driving license amount to<br />
a sum <strong>of</strong> about 5,000 ₦ (23 Euros) at present.<br />
8.3 Luftfahrt/ Aviation<br />
Um das Land zu bereisen ist das komfortabelste Verkehrsmittel das Flugzeug. Es ist schnell,<br />
preiswert und einigermaßen sicher aufgrund <strong>de</strong>r in <strong>de</strong>n letzteren Jahren verschärften<br />
Betriebsbedingungen. Insgesamt gibt es 54 Flughäfen in <strong>Nigeria</strong>, davon vier internationale<br />
(Lagos, Abuja, Kano und Port Harcourt), sieben große regionale Flughäfen (Kaduna, Enugu,<br />
Calabar, Maiduguri, Sokoto, Jos und Yola) und elf kleinere. Neben diesen Flughäfen<br />
existieren noch zahlreiche kleinere. Die Flughafengebühr liegt einheitlich bei $35 US o<strong>de</strong>r<br />
einem ähnlich hohen Betrag in Naira, hinzu kommen noch 5% Regierungssteuer. Das<br />
Fluggastaufkommen lag 2007 bei 9,426 Mio., davon alleine 78 % in Lagos und Abuja.<br />

cheap and relatively safe due to stricter operating conditions in recent years. There are 54<br />
airports in total in <strong>Nigeria</strong>; four <strong>of</strong> them are international airports (Lagos, Abuja, Kano and<br />
Port Harcourt), there are seven major domestic airports (Kaduna, Enugu, Calabar,<br />
Maiduguri, Sokoto, Jos and Yola) and eleven smaller ones. The airport tax is the same in all<br />
airports at US $35, or the corresponding amount in <strong>Nigeria</strong>n Naira. Additionally, 5% <strong>of</strong> the<br />
ticket price is constituted by government taxes. The total number <strong>of</strong> all flight passengers in<br />
<strong>Nigeria</strong> was 9,426,000 people in 2007, with 78% <strong>of</strong> these in Lagos and Abuja alone.<br />

8.3.1 Flugpreise/ Air Fares<br />
Ein One Way Ticket von Lagos zu einem <strong>de</strong>r größeren nigerianischen Flughäfen liegt <strong>de</strong>rzeit<br />
zwischen 120 und 240 US Dollar. Für One-Way-Flüge zwischen Lagos und Abuja wer<strong>de</strong>n in<br />
<strong>de</strong>r Economy Class rund 160 US Dollar berechnet. Flüge zu etwas abseits gelegenen<br />
Städten sind am teuersten. Es ist zu beachten, dass zusätzlich zum Flugpreis immer<br />
Flughafengebühren zu zahlen sind.<br />
