5 Summary and critical aspects of the metaphor theory of Lakoff/Johnson
Despite all the positive aspects there remain some open questions in metaphor
analysis regarding meaning and understanding about the concepts and interpretation
of metaphors, the ways of perception of metaphors, the empirical evidence of
metaphoric concepts regarding thinking and acting and psychological and emotional
aspects of metaphors.

6.1 Question of Research
The main question of this research is:
„What are the concepts of health for German speaking osteopaths with academic
background?“
In osteopathy, A.T. Still's philosophical statement about finding health has set up
health as the most important principle in defining the profession and its basic
paradigm.
The following questions should be investigated:
What are the metaphors osteopaths use in describing their ideas and
understanding of health and what is the importance of health in osteopathy?
How did professional education and academic training in osteopathy
contribute to this understanding?
What are the pictures, stories, ideas and guiding thoughts for the concepts of
health?
