A
Absauggut
Aufbereitung
Die Aufbereitung wird bei jedem Patientenwechsel
notwendig. Aufbereitung bedeutet,
dass alle Teile, die mit dem Absauggut
in Verbindung kommen oder evtl. kommen
könnten, getauscht werden.
Zur Aufbereitung wird ein Aufbereitungs-Set
verwendet. Das Aufbereitungs-Set besteht
aus dem Doppelfiltersystem, dem Sekretbehälter
und Silikonschläuchen.
5
DEUTSCH
DEUTSCH
6
D
DFS - Doppelfiltersystem
Ein externer Filter sowie ein im Absauggerät
integrierter Bakterienfilter bilden zusammen
das Doppelfiltersystem. Das Doppelfiltersystem
schützt wirksam das Geräteinnere vor
Kontamination und Übersaugung. Es ermöglicht
eine sichere Aufbereitung sowie einen
schnellen Wiedereinsatz des Produkts.
K
Kontamination
U
Übersaugung
Wenn der Sekretbehälter voll ist und nicht
vor einer weiteren Absaugung entleert wird,
kann es zu einer Übersaugung kommen.
Übersaugung heißt, dass das Absauggut
nicht mehr im Sekretbehälter aufgenommen
werden kann und somit das Absauggut
durch die Silikonschläuche in das Geräteinnere
gesaugt wird. Dadurch kommt es zu einer
Kontamination des Geräteinneren.
Die Geräte der ASSKEA „S-Serie“ sind besonders
handliche Absauggeräte zur stationären
Anwendung.
Betrieben werden die Geräte über eine Netzanschlussleitung
zum 230V Versorgungsnetz.
Zur gewünschten Vakuumerzeugung
dienen beim S20 und S30 eine elektromotorische,
wartungsfreie Kolbenpumpe, sowie
eine Vakuumpumpe mit Spaltmotor beim
S20K (K-Kurzzeitbetrieb). Eine Übertemperatursicherung
verhindert ein Überhitzen des
Absauggerätes und führt zur automatischen
Abschaltung.
Bei Betrieb, über Einschalten des Netzschalters,
erzeugt die Vakuumpumpe im
Schlauchleitungssystem und Sekretauffangbehälter
ein Vakuum, mit dessen Hilfe Absauggut
(über einen sterilen Absaugkatheter)
abgesaugt wird. Die Flüssigkeit wird vom
Patienten wegführend im Sekretbehälter aufgefangen.
Durch eine im Deckel integrierte,
mechanische Überlaufsicherung wird das
Gerät bei vollem Behälter gestoppt.
Mit Hilfe des Vakuumreglers wird die Saugleistung
eingestellt.
Der Mehrweg-Sekretbehälter wird über Aufschieben
auf den am Gehäuse des Absauggerätes
vorhandenen Führungen befestigt
(Abb. 20, 21). Über die Schlauchverbindung
mit einem integrierten, hydrophoben Bakterienfilter
wird die Vakuumverbindung zwischen
Absauggerät und Sekretbehälter hergestellt.
2.3.2 ASSKEA M-Serie
VORSICHT!
Gefährdung von Personen
bei falscher Handhabung.
• Verwenden Sie das Gerät nur
entsprechend der Zweckbestimmung.
• Verwenden Sie das Gerät
niemals für den Dauerbetrieb
Handhabung
• Saugen Sie niemals brenn-
bare, ätzende oder explosive
Flüssigkeiten oder Gase
ab!
Die Geräte der ASSKEA M-Serie sind besonders
handliche, akkubetriebene Absauggeräte
für den mobilen Einsatz.
Betrieben werden alle mobilen Geräte über
den internen Akku oder über das mitgelieferte
Netzgerät, welches ebenso das Laden des Akkus
ermöglicht. Zur gewünschten Vakuumerzeugung
dienen bei M20, M20D und M20W
eine elektromotorische, wartungsfreie Kolbenpumpe,
sowie eine Membranpumpe bei M30,
M30D und M30W. Eine Übertemperatursicherung
verhindert ein Überhitzen des Akkus während
des Ladevorgangs bei, unter Umständen,
ungünstigen Umgebungsbedingungen.
Nach dem Einschalten erzeugt die Vakuumpumpe
im Schlauchleitungssystem und Sekretauffangbehälter
ein Vakuum, mit dessen
Hilfe Absauggut (über einen sterilen Absaugkatheter)
abgesaugt wird. Die Flüssigkeit
wird vom Patienten wegführend im Sekretbehälter
aufgefangen und durch eine im Deckel
integrierte, mechanische Überlaufsicherung
bei vollem Behälter gestoppt.
Mit Hilfe des Vakuumreglers wird die Saugleistung
eingestellt. Der Mehrweg-Sekretbehälter
wird über direktes Aufschieben auf
den am Gehäuse vorhandenen Führungen
am Absauggerät befestigt (Abb. 20, 21). Über
die Schlauchverbindung mit einem integrierten,
externen hydrophoben Bakterienfi lter
wird die Vakuumverbindung zwischen Absauggerät
und Sekretbehälter hergestellt.
Eine grundsätzliche Einteilung der Geräte der
ASSKEA M-Serie nach Ausstattungs-Variante
erfolgt in folgende Gruppen:
Analog (M20,M30) (Abb. 4)
Bei den analogen, mobilen Varianten erfolgt
die Vakuumregelung wie bei den stationären
Absauggeräten über den Vakuumregler (Nebenluftregulierung).
Das Laden oder Betreiben
erfolgt über das zugehörige 12V Netzgerät.
Digital (M20D, M30D) (Abb. 5)
Die digitalen mobilen Varianten sind mit einer
Tastaturfolie ausgestattet, über welche die Einstellung
des gewünschten Vakuumwertes und
dessen Regelung über einen elektronischen
Sensor erfolgt. Das Laden oder Betreiben erfolgt
über das zugehörige 12V Netzgerät.
Digital mit Wandhalterung (M20W,M30W)
(Abb. 5)
Bei den digitalen mobilen Absauggeräten
mit Wandhalterung können diese über die
Wandhalterung oder über das zugehörige
Netzgerät geladen bzw. betrieben werden.
Die Vakuumregelung erfolgt digital über einen
elektronischen Sensor.
2.3.3 Hinweise zum Doppelfi ltersystem
VORSICHT!
Gesundheitsschäden beim
Umgang mit infektiösen oder
pathogenen Keimen.
Infektiöse und pathogene
Keime des Absauggutes verursachenGesundheitsschäden.
• Betreiben Sie das Gerät niemals
ohne externen Bakterienfi
lter! (Außnahme: „One
Way“ Einwegbehälter)
• Halten Sie immer mindestens
einen externen Ersatz-
Bakterienfi lter bereit.
Das ASSKEA Doppelfi ltersystem besteht aus
dem externen und dem im Gerät verbauten
internen Filter.
laufsicherung keinen hydrophoben Filter
verwenden und schützt damit bei Versagen
von mechanischen Überlaufsicherungen vor
Übersaugung.
Das ASSKEA Doppelfiltersystem
schützt wirkungsvoll vor Übersaugung
und Kontamination. Es ermöglicht
eine schnelle, einfache und kosteneffiziente
Aufbereitung
2.3.3.a) Laufzeit und Wiederverwendung
Der externe Bakterienfilter ist zur Einmalverwendung
bestimmt. Er muss
aus diesem Grund bei jedem Patientenwechsel
ausgetauscht werden.
Bei ausschließlicher Anwendung an
einem Patienten sollte der externe
Bakterienfilter alle 14 Tage erneuert
werden.
Beachten Sie zum Wechsel des externen
Bakterienfilters die beiliegende
Gebrauchsanweisung!
Das interne Filtersystem ist, wie auch der
externe Bakterienfilter, nicht zur Wiederverwendung
gedacht. Um gleichbleibende
Funktionseigenschaften zu gewährleisten,
muss das interne Filtersystem bei
Übersaugung, Patientenwechsel oder
Instandhaltung/Reparatur erneuert werden.
Bei den ASSKEA Absauggeräten der
digitalen Varianten M20D, M30D,
M20W und M30W erleichtert zusätzlich
eine LED die Anzeige des Filterzustandes
des Doppelfiltersystems
(DFS).
a Die Feldstärke stationärer Sender, wie z.
Contamination
Contamination means that bacteria and viruses
from the aspirate have come into direct
contact with the unit.
D
DFS-Dual filter system
The dual filter system comprises an external
filter plus a bacteria filter and integrated into
the suction unit. The dual filter system is
an effective protection for the inside of the
unit against contamination and overflow. It
ensures that reconditioning will be safe and
that the equipment can be rapidly reused.
3
ENGLISH
ENGLISH
4
O
Overflow
If the secretions tank is full and is not emptied
before the next aspiration, overflow may
result. Overflow means that the aspirate
can no longer be accepted into the secretions
tank and that, therefore, the aspirate
is sucked into the inside of the unit by the
silicone tubes. This contaminates the inside
of the unit.
R
Reconditioning
Reconditioning is necessary on every change
of patient. By reconditioning is meant the
replacement of all parts which come into
contact with the aspirate or might even possibly
do so. A reconditioning set is what is
used for this reconditioning procedure. The
reconditioning set is maid up of the dual filter
system, the secretions tank and the silicone
tubes.
S
Secretion
The aspirate is the term used in general for
secretions, body fluids and rinsing fluids aris-
ing typically on aspiration of the upper respiratory
tract. This is what can be removed by
the ASSKEA M- and S-Series equipment.
1.5 Purpose of use
1.5.1 ASSKEA S-Series
The ASSKEA S-Series aspirators are mainspowered
medical suction units for temporary
removal of secretions. The optimal use of the
“S” series is for inpatients; however, it also
finds application in homecare and rehabilitation
in the domestic setting for the patient
concerned.
1.5.2 ASSKEA M-Series
The ASSKEA M-Series aspirators are independent
of mains electricity: mobile medical
suction units for temporary and, particularly,
emergency removal of secretions. They are
typically used in:
• in-and-out-patient care
• home care of patients with laryngectomy or
tracheotomy, especially to remove secretions
for tracheostomy patients,
• in the care of the old to remove secretions
and to remove foreign bodies by aspiration.
1.6 Basic safety instructions
CAUTION!
Risk to health from dealing
with infectious or pathogenic
organisms.
Any germs and pathogens
in the secretions will cause
damage to health.
• Never operate the unit without
its external bacterial
filter. (The exception is the
“One Way” disposable tank)
• Check every time before using
the unit that the external
filter is dry and clean – to
ensure faultless functioning.
(Exception: the “One
Way” disposable tank)
• Always aspirate by means
of a catheter. The suction
hose must never come into
direct contact with the body
part aspirated.
• Follow exactly the notes on
hygiene, cleaning and decontamination.

CAUTION!
Damage to equipment from
improper use
• Never suck up flammable,
corrosive or explosive liquids
or gases with the unit.
These units are run on the 230V power supply
from the mains. A low-maintenance piston
pump with electric motor is used to produce
the vacuum in the case of the S20 and
S30, and a vacuum pump with shaded-pole
motor in the case of the S20K (K stands for
kurz in German: this is the version with very
short operating times). A safety cut out at
high temperatures prevents over-heating of
the aspirator and will ensure that it switches
off automatically.
If the aspirator is operated by switching on
at the mains, the vacuum pump will produce
a vacuum in the hose system and secretions
tank, which serves to exert suction on the
secretions (with an intermediary sterile suction
catheter). The liquid is then drawn away
from the patient and into the secretions
tank. The mechanical overflow preventer
integrated into the lid ensures that the ap-
paratus is stopped when the tank is full.
The suction level is set by means of the vacuum
control.
The re-usable secretions tank is secured by
pushing it onto the guides on the casing of
the aspirator (Fig 20, 21). The vacuum connection
is produced between the aspirator
and this tank via hose connection with an integrated
hydrophobic bacteria filter.
2.3.2 ASSKEA M-Serie
CAUTION!
BEWARE!
Risk to patients and staff
from improper use.
• Never use the equipment
for other than its proper
purpose.
• Never use the equipment
for long term suction in the
case of drainage by means
of negative pressure (e.g.
thorax-drainage).
Damage to equipment from
improper use
• Never suck up flammable,
corrosive or explosive liquids
or gases with the unit.
In the M-Series, medical staff on mobile
duty have battery-driven suction equipment
which is particularly easy to use.
All mobile units are driven either by the internal
battery or from the mains adaptor
supplied (which will also charge the battery).
To generate the desired vacuum, there
is an electromotive, low-maintenance piston
pump in the M20, M20D and M20W, and a
diaphragm pump in the M30, M30D and
M30W versions. In environmental conditions
which might be unfavourable, there is an
over-temperature cut out to prevent overheating
of the battery during charging.
When the aspirator is switched on, the vacuum
pump will produce a vacuum in the hose
system and secretions tank, which serves to
exert suction on the secretions (with an intermediary
sterile suction catheter). The liquids
are drawn away from the patient and collected
in the secretions tank. They are stopped
when the tank is full by a mechanical overflow
valve integrated into the lid.
The suction level is set by means of the vacuum
control. The re-usable secretions tank
is secured by pushing it onto the guides on
the casing of the aspirator (Fig 20, 21). The
vacuum connection is produced between the
aspirator and this tank via a hose connection
with an external hydrophobic bacteria fi lter
integrated into the system. Basically, the
ASSKEA M – Series units are divided into the
following groups according to their various
fi ttings:
Analogue (M20, M30) (Fig. 4)
On the stationary, or inpatient suction devices,
the vacuum control is on the secondary
air principle and this is also the case for the
analogue, mobile versions (for outpatient or
ambulance use). Both recharging and operation
take place using the 12V mains adaptor
supplied.
Digital (M20D, M30D) (Fig. 5)
The digital mobile versions have a touch fi lm
to use for setting the vacuum desired and to
control the vacuum by means of an electronic
sensor. Both recharging and operation
take place using the 12V mains adaptor supplied.
Digital unit with wall-holder (M20W, M30W)
(Fig. 5)
The digital mobile suction units which have
a wall-holder can also be charged or operated
via the contacts integrated into the wallholder
or via the mains adaptor. The vacuum
level is controlled digitally by means of an
electronic sensor.
Risk to health from dealing
with infectious or pathogenic
organisms.
Any germs and pathogens
in the secretions will cause
damage to health.
• Never operate the unit without
its external bacterial fi lter. (Exception:
the “One Way” unit)
• At least one spare external
fi lter must be kept on hand
at all times.
The ASSKEA dual fi lter system consists of an
external fi lter and a fi lter integrated into the
unit itself. Both of these fi lters are hydrophobic
bacteria fi lters (hydrophobic means that
they reject liquid) and they are 99.999% effective
against bacteria and viruses.
The internal bacteria fi lter is used for all AS-
SKEA units of the S and M-Series.
The external fi lter is only necessary in tank
systems which do not use a hydrophobic fi lter
as overfl ow control. It is there to prevent
over-suction if mechanical overfl ow control
mechanisms should fail.
10
The ASSKEA dual filter system provides
effective protection against
overflow and contamination. It makes
re-conditioning of the units fast, simple
and cost effective
2.3.3.a) Period of use, reuse
The external bacteria filter is for
once-only use. It must therefore be
changed for every new patient. As
long as it is being used for a single
patient only, it should be replaced
every 14 days.
When exchanging the external filter,
follow the operating manual which
accompanies it.
As in the case of the external filter, the internal
bacteria filter is not for reuse. To ensure
the functions are maintained, the internal
filter system must be exchanged if oversuction
occurs or for a new patient or after
maintenance or repairs.
In the case of the digital types of AS-
SKEA unit: M20D, M30D, M20W and
M30W, there is also an LED to indicate
the state of the filters in the dual
filter system. If the DFS LED is illu-
minated in green, the filter system is
guaranteed to be ready for use. If it is
illuminated in red, either the internal
or the external filter may have overflowed.
If it is the internal filter which
is affected, it must be replaced by AS-
SKEA or an ASSKEA servicing agent.
2.4 Guarantee
There is a guarantee of two years on the AS-
SKEA M- and S-Series aspirators. If work is
carried out on the units under the guarantee,
the guarantee will be neither extended
nor renewed. The period of guarantee for
the battery is six months. Consumables are
excluded from guarantee.
ASSKEA GmbH is responsible for any effect
on safety, reliability and the performance as
specified only under the following circumstances:
• If original ASSKEA accessories are used.
• If maintenance and repair has been carried
out by staff authorised by ASSKEA GmbH
or by ASSKEA itself.
• If the relevant product has been used and
operated in accordance with the instruction
manual and its intended purpose.
All claims under guarantee are extinguished
if the apparatus is opened by
unauthorised personnel or if repairs
are carried out by unauthorised personnel.
3 Operation • If the unit has overflowed,
it must be properly recon-
CAUTION!
BEWARE!
Risk to patients and staff
from improper use.
• Be sure to read Sections 3.1
and 3.2.
• Never aspirate the upper
respiratory area until
trained by specialist staff.
• Only use suitable suction
catheters for aspiration – or
specific aspiration kits.
Loss of function if secretions
drawn into unit.
• Always be sure to empty
the secretions tank in good
time. (this applies only to
reusable secretions tanks)
• Empty the secretions tank
as soon as it is half-full. If
the level of the liquid is too
high, the mechanical overflow
preventer will go into
action. In that case, the aspiration
will be discontinuied.
• To empty or to exchange
the secretions tank, always
switch the unit off.
ditioned by ASSKEA or an
ASSKEA servicing agent.
3.1.3 ASSKEA S-Series connections (S20,
S30, S20K)
Check that the supply voltage matches the
mains voltage identifi ed on the unit.
Check the mains cable for any damage
and if any is found, exchange it immediately.
For the mains-dependent suction units S20,
S30, S20K, use the mains socket (Fig. 6 (G)),
to connect the unit via the mains cable to the
power supply.
3.1.4 ASSKEA M-Series connections (M20,
M30, M20D, M30D)
In the case of the mains-independent units,
the socket (Fig. 7 (G), Fig. 8(H)) is used to
charge or to operate the units as necessary
via the mains adapter supplied, which connects
to the mains power supply.
3.1.5 ASSKEA M-Series with wallholder
connections (M20W, M30W)
In the case of the mains-independent units
with wallholder, the connection to the mains
can be via the mains adapter (see Section
3.1.4) or from the back of the unit to the wallholder,
if installed. In this way, the M-series
units are always ready for use.
The M20W and M30W versions are
intended for use at voltages between
12V (DC) and a maximum of 28 V (DC).
In all cases, the next Section, 3.1.5.a),
on the use of the wall-holder, must be
observed.
3.1.5.a) Fixing and connecting the wallholder
Input voltage range: 12 V DC to 28 V DC
The wall-holder is supplied with
an automotive connecting cable as
standard. If other connection variants
are used take care with the positive
3.2 Commissioning
The following notes apply to the commissioning
of all the M- and S-Series
suction units.
• Unpack the unit and the accessories.
• Always place the unit on a hard, fl at surface.
• Be sure to take note of the safety instruction
in Section 1.6 before using the equipment
for the fi rst time.
• Always keep an external bacteria fi lter on
hand (see Fig.2 (B) ), since this is absolutely
necessary for safe operation. (this does not
apply to the “OneWay” system)
3.2.1 How to connect the ASSKEA reusable tank system
1. Attach the connection hose with the
blue angled piece to the unit. Ensure
that the side of the bacteria fi lter with
the inscription “IN” is the side nearest
the tank, facing the patient.
Fig. 13
2. Push the grey angled piece at the
other end of the connection hose
onto the nozzle in the centre of the secretions
Fig. 19
Different disposable container systems and
holders are available on request.
BEWARE!
Loss of function if the bag
in the inside container collapses.
Any leakage in or round the
lid could permit air to fl ow in
and the bag to collapse.
• Always ensure for disposable
systems that the connection
between the lid and
the external tank is airtight.
• Ensure that all connections
are fi rmly seated.
• All instructions from the
bag manufacturers must be
observed.
It should be observed that there are
up to four fi xing options which can
be used for the secretions tank for all
units without wall-holder (Fig. 20, 21).
Fig. 20 Fig. 21
3.2.3 Suction hose
It is possible to use fi nger tip or hose connector
to join the suction hose and suction
catheter in the case of all ASSKEA S-and-M-
Series aspirators.
Before starting to aspirate with the M20W
or M30W, take care to remove the aspirator
from the wall-holder as described in section
3.1.5.a) (Fig. 12). Suction is possible from the
wall-holder, but it reduces mobility during
the aspiration procedure.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning and care
4.1.1 General notes
CAUTION!
Risk to health from dealing
with infectious or pathogenic
organisms.
Any germs and pathogens
in the secretions will cause
damage to health.
• Never operate the unit without
both its internal and its
external bacterial filter.
• If the unit has the appropriate
tank system, and is used
for a single patient, renew
the external bacteria filter
every 14 days.
• When doing so, wear suitable
disposable gloves.
• It is forbidden for safety reasons
to use the same bacteria
for more than one patient.
• If changing patients, have
the aspirator reconditioned
without fail by ASSKEA
GmbH or one of ASSKEA’s
service partners.
• It is a basic principle that
any parts which have come
CAUTION!
BEWARE!
into contact with secretions
be cleaned, disinfected and
sterilised (or disposed of) after
every aspiration episode.
• Dispose of the aspirated
secretions and all parts contaminated
by them must
take place in the correct
manner.
Risk to health from working
with disinfectants.
• The wearing of suitable disposable
gloves is recommended
during disinfection
procedures.
Risk of damage to units from
using the wrong cleaners.
• Never use disinfectants with
contain acetone. They may
lead to damage or spoil the
optical effect of the plastic
parts of the casing.
• Follow the manufacturer’s
in structions on the disinfectant
used, particularly as
to compatibility with materials
and surfaces, and the
concentration.
• ASSKEA GmbH recommends
GIGASEPT FF for immersion,
and incidin PLUS,
or TERRALIN, for wiping
during disinfection.
When using the unit for a single patient
(this will be mainly in the home
care field), it will not be necessary
to disinfect it. If the unit is used on a
ward, its disinfection is essential.
4.1.2 Cleaning and disinfecting the surface of
the unit.
• Clean regularly and disinfect the surface
of the unit at least once a week.
• All units can be wiped over with a
damp, lint-free cloth.
• When wiping for disinfection purposes,
follow the notes in the previous
Section,4.1.1.
If the unit has been used for a long time, it is
possible that slight discoloration will appear
on the plastic parts of the casing. However,
this will not affect the functioning.
If the inside of the unit comes directly into
contact with liquids, the aspirator must be
Portable and mobile radio devices should not be operated any
closer to ASSKEA suction units including their cables than the
recommended safety distance, which is calculated from the
equation for the transmission frequency.
Recommended safety distance:
d= 1.2 √ P
d= 1.2 √ P for 80 MHz to 800 MHz
d= 2.3 √ P for 800 MHz to 2.5 GHz
with P as the maximum nominal power of the transmitter in
Watts (W), according to the transmitter manufacturer’s details
and d as the recommended safety distance in metres (m).
The field strength of stationary radio transmitters should always
be less than the compliance level at all frequencies in accordance
with an on-site investigation.
If units bear the following symbol, they
may cause interference in their vicinity.
NOTE 1 The higher frequency range applies at 80 MHz and 800 MHz.
NOTE 2 These guidelines may possibly not apply in all cases. Absorption and reflection by buildings, other objects and
human beings will influence how far electromagnetic forces extend.
a The field strength of stationary transmitters such as the base stations of mobile and cordless telephones, amateur radio stations, AM and FM radio and
television bruadcasting stations cannot be determined in advance on the basis of theory To establish the nature of the electromagnetic environment around
the stationary transmitters, it may be wise to study the situation on site. If the field strength measured at the site where the ASSKEA units are being used
exceeds the levels listed above as compatible, the units must be kept under observation to ensure they are fulfilling their function. If unusual performance
characteristics are noted, it may be necessary to take additional action, such as changing the way the ASSKEA aspirator unit faces or moving it to a different
position.
b The field strength should be less than 3 V/m in the range between 150 kHz and 80 MHz.
T 206
Recommended distance for mutual protection between cordless and mobile RF-telecommunications apparatus and ASSKEA aspirator units.
ASSKEA aspirator units are intended for use in an electromagnetic environment where RF interference is checked. The purchaser or user of ASSKEA aspirator
units can help avoid electromagnetic interference by maintaining the minimum distance between the units and any cordless or mobile RF telecommunications
apparatus (transmitters). The distance will depend on the output power of the RF devices: see table below.
In the case of transmitters with maximum frequency which is not given in the above table, the recommended distance d in metres (m) can be calculated from the
