Ein Jahr lang – von 2002 bis 2003 – untersuchten Studierende des Instituts für Volkskunde<br />
der Universität Hamburg den FC St. Pauli. Es war eine der bewegendsten Phasen<br />
der Vereinsgeschichte: Dem sensationellen Bundesliga-Aufstieg 2001 folgten zwei<br />
Abstiege nacheinander. Nach 17 Jahren befindet sich der Stadtteilklub nun zum ersten<br />
Mal seit der Entstehung des Mythos FC St. Pauli nicht mehr im Profifußball. Der<br />
Beliebtheit des Vereins scheint dies keinen Abbruch getan zu haben. Was fasziniert<br />
Menschen am FC St. Pauli? Wieso halten sie dem „Underdog“ die Treue? In diesem<br />
Buch kommen vor allem Fans zur Sprache. Es werden geläufige Klischees hinterfragt<br />
und Einblicke in die Wirkmacht des FC St. Pauli gegeben.<br />
