4 Installation
4.11 Handling of the Light guide
Wear UV protective glasses and UV protective gloves!
4.11.1 Handling Distance

Generally a distance of 10 - 15 mm from the workpiece is ideal. In some cases the
distance should be greater.
The energy emitted from the end of the light guide can heat any surface that it is
directed at. Care must be taken to determine the proper offset distance and
exposure time.
If the distance is too short, vapours emitted by the adhesive may contaminate the lens of
the light guide, causing lamp output to deteriorate.
If the distance is too large, output may be insufficient for obtaining the desired cure.
The larger the distance, the larger is the irradiated surface, and the lower the intensity of
radiation on that surface.
4.11.2 Handling Position

Handle the light guide in a way that the cone of light shows away from the body.
Danger of glare!
A better way is to fix the light-guide in the way as described before and handle the
workpiece.
For additional protection UV perspex should be mounted between the worker and the
workplace, e.g. a plastic panel made of UV stabilized polycarbonate (PC).
4.11.3 Removal of the Light Guide
• To remove light guide, firmly grip the rigid section of the strain relief near the light
guide retainer and pull off firmly.
Never pull on the twistable jacketing portion of the light guide!
4.12 Startup in cold condition
For re-starting the system, follow the instructions in Section 4.6 and following.
4.13 Startup in hot condition

After the unit is switched off, wait at least 3 minutes prior to reignition.
Frequent on/off switching results in premature deterioration of the lamp.
Do not switch off for idle periods of less than 3 hours.
