579. is bádud robádit. Such expressions (common in Irish) where the
noun is of cognate origin with the verb, remind one of Greek
phrases like fiay^v eßayovto, Latin like pugnam pugnabant.
580. nóaib = navibus: ace. pi. nó-th-e 568 where the th is inserted to I
shew that the word is a dissyllable. So in clóthib 'clavis'.
581. commin, leg. co min 'minutely"?
595. imorclior aigit perhaps for imm-ro-córaigit 'they were greatly ar-
ranged'? The metathesis of the r of ro is frequent.
601. iarnaig seems gen. sg. of a collective iarnaeh, which I have not met.
612. forcicaib, seems to have a passive sense here.
622. dochel elú 7 erdarcus = docheil clil 7 erdarcus 992. So in LL. 232 a,
a indsib 7 ailénaib celes cltl. pi. 3 dochelit, (docealat B.) mor
námra, Corm. s. v. Art. Tóchell . i . buaid, O'Cl. may be cognate.
Perhaps the root is Fick's 2. kal, to which he refers xeXofxai and colo.

for 'scarcely not', 'hardly not'. So is bee, tret; na 393, is beg, trá,ná 825.

dat. sg. of inis, and insi 709, ace. sg. Can there have been origi-
nally sisterforms in ia, id, such as longae, inse (cf. arbor and airlre,
adaig and aidche, sétig and sétche), and can these be their sur-
viving datives and accusatives'?

thr into fr. Have we here the explanation of afraig, afridisi from
