Bauprozess
Der Bauprozess wird in den Schwerpunkten Baurecht, Bauökonomie,
Beteiligte und ihre Leistungen, Bau- und
Planungsorganisation und Bewirtschaftung thematisiert.
Prozessdenken, Akquisition und Vergleiche mit anderen
Staaten ergänzen den Lehrinhalt. Es werden Grundlagen,
Tendenzen und Terminologien erörtert und anhand von
aktuellen, architektonisch-städtebaulichen Fallbeispielen
verschiedene Themen vertieft.
Aktive Mitarbeit, interdisziplinäres und prozessorientiertes
Denken der Studierenden werden in allen Lehrveranstaltungen
der Professur vorausgesetzt.
diplomwahlfächer
Bauprozess: Organisation
An einem Semesterthema werden die organisatorischen
Aufgaben in Planung und Ausführung anhand von
theoretischen Modellen und Fallbeispielen vermittelt.
Semesterthema ss 05: Shop Design
Semesterthema ws 05/06: Vom Prototyp zur Serie
Semesterthema ss 06: Akquisition und Moderation
Bauprozess: Ausführung
Der Bauprozess wird anhand von aktuellen Bauvorhaben
gezeigt. Baustellenbesuche, Werkbesuche und interdisziplinäre
Vorträge verdeutlichen den Begriff «Prozess»
praxisnah. Die Professur versteht sich als Moderator
zwischen den am Bau Beteiligten und den Studierenden.
Die einzelnen Veranstaltungen sind unter
www.bauprozess.arch.ethz.ch publiziert.
Bauprozess: Ökonomie
Bauökonomische Überlegungen beim Planen und Realisieren
von Hochbauten sind zentrale Themen der
Lehrveranstaltung. Es werden wirtschaftliche Belange des
Bauens untersucht und Entscheidungssituationen
simuliert. Die erarbeiteten Daten zeigen eine bauliche
Empfehlung, wie Abbruch, Sanierung, Umbau oder
Neubau des untersuchten Projekts auf. Fallstudien in der
Vorlesung sowie Wahlfacharbeiten mit individuellen
Themen erfordern eine aktive Mitarbeit der Studierenden.
Empfohlen wird die Benutzung des Internet-Tools
«Ökonomiemodell für die Objektplanung im Hochbau»
http://www.bauoek-ethz.ch.
E+I: Integrierter Entwurf
Künftig werden integrierte Entwürfe Bestandteil des
Bachelor- und Master-Studiengangs sein. Dabei werden
die Entwurfsklassen von weiteren Professuren des
d-arch begleitet.
Mit dem Thema «Vom Prototyp zur Serie» wurde im
ws 05/06 zusammen mit Ass. Prof. Christian Kerez
ein erstes e+i Entwurfssemester durchgeführt. «Eigene
Building Process
The process of building is focused on Subjects as building
legislation, building economy, participants and their
performance, management of construction and planning,
and facility management. Procedural thinking, acquisition,
and the comparison with other countries complete
the series. Basic principles, trends and terminologies
are discussed, current architecture and urban design projects
are reviewed as case studies for each topic.
Active participation by the students as well as interdisciplinary
and procedural thinking is a prerequisite for
all courses at the Chair.
elective courses
Building Process: Organization
On specific topics for each semester, the course presents
managing tasks for planning and realization on examples
of theoretical models and case studies.
Semester topic ss 05: Shop design
Semester topic ws 05/06: From prototype to series
Semester topic ss 06: Acquisition and facilitation
Building Process: Practice
The process of building is shown on current construction
sites. Visits to sites and manufacturers, and interdisciplinary
talks demonstrate the meaning of ‘process’
in practice. The Chair views itself as a moderator between
those involved in construction and the students.
The individual events will be published in
www.bauprozess.arch.ethz.ch.
Building Process: Economics
Economic considerations within the process of design and
construction of buildings are main focus of the course.
Economic factors of construction are examined and the
specific process of decision is simulated. The final data
show a recommendation, such as demolition, refurbishment,
conversion or new construction for the project
investigated. Case studies in the lectures, and elective projects
of individual topics, require students’ active participation.
The use of the Internet tool ‘Ökonomiemodell für die
Objektplanung im Hochbau’
http://www.bauoek-ethz.ch is recommended.
E+I: Integrated Design
Integrated designs will be a component of the Bachelor and
Master study programs. Design classes will be accompanied
by additional d-arch chairs.
An initial e+i design semester on the topic ‘From
prototype to series’ was completed with Asst. Prof.
Christian Kerez in ws 05/06, continued by ‘On one’s
own initiatives’.
Dynamic Life Cycle Costs
(Zusammenarbeit mit den Professuren caad und Gebäudetechnik)
Das Projekt entwickelt ein edv-Programm, mit dem
Life Cycle Costs von Gebäuden berechnet werden
können. Der Geldfluss wird dabei dynamisch berechnet.
Basis ist wahlweise ein 3d-Gebäudemodell, oder ein
schematisches Modell. Aus beiden Ansätzen resultieren
die gleichen Inputdaten in eine Datenbank.
Fachstelle Architektur und Schule
(Zusammenarbeit mit dem bsa, Bund Schweizer Architekten)
Umweltgestaltung und Architektur sollen künftig
zum Unterrichtsstoff aller Schulstufen gehören. Die Fachstelle
sammelt didaktische Materialien. Zusammen mit
Lehrpersonen werden Pilotprojekte mit Schulklassen durchgeführt.
Mittelfristig sollen durch diese Erfahrungen
Lehrmittel entstehen. fachstelle.as@hbt.arch.ethz.ch
Economic Models in Structural Engineering
Students work on planning projects out of practice and
design courses, based on economic considerations. The
project’s research goal is to develop and provide a teaching
medium on the Internet, that is available to students
as a didactic-methodical innovation for self-guided study.
Results can be discussed via the Internet.
(Individualized mass production, with Steven Fong, Toronto)
Initial position is an essential structural change in
economy, created by individualized mass production in
the process of production. The origins and conditions
of this development are examined as well as its effects for
the human environment and the process of building.
The goal is to develop strategies for future ways of working.
Dynamic Life-Cycle Costs
(In cooperation with the Chairs of caad and Building
Technology)
The project is developing an edp program with which
the life-cycle costs of buildings can be calculated. The
flow of funds will be dynamically calculated. The basis is
optionally a 3d building model, or a schematic model.
Both approaches will result in the same input into a database.
Specialist Unit – Architecture and School
(In cooperation with the Federation of Swiss Architects – bsa)
Environmental design and architecture will in future
be part of the curriculum at all school levels. A unit
of specialists is collecting didactic materials. In collaboration
with teachers, pilot projects will be realized with
school classes. Teaching materials are to be created
based on these experiences. fachstelle.as@hbt.arch.ethz.ch

PhD: Risk-Supported Market Value and Hypothecation Model
Based on the historic approach to real estate valuation,
and the development of the hypothecation on properties,
a model is to be created, that aims to achieve relative
accuracy in valuation methodology. The opportunities
and risks of a property are visualized with the aim
of generating a dynamic, risk-supported hypothecation
rate.
PhD intended: Interactions in the Building Process (working title)
The relationship between the architect as an overall
design team leader, the client, and the general contractor
is examined. The aim is to discover new balances between
the decision-makers, and to find new forms of organization,
to achieve a more specialized management
of projects (economics, technology, design).
