BREMERHAVEN > Herausragend in
der Architektur, einzigartig in der
Konzeption: Bremerhaven erhält
eine Einrichtung von Weltrang.
Sieben Millionen Menschen
verließen einst über
Bremerhaven den europäischen
Kontinent. Ihr Abschied
machte die Stadt zeitweise
zum größten Auswandererhafen
Europas.
Das Deutsche Auswandererhaus
lässt die Geschichte
auferstehen und macht es
möglich, den Lebenswegen
jener Auswanderer buchstäblich
nachzugehen: Auf 3.500
qm erlebt der Besucher in authentischer
Kulisse und inszenierten
Räumen das Abenteuer
Auswanderung.
Der zweite Schwerpunkt
des Hauses liegt auf dem
Thema Heimat und Migration.
Dieser Bereich umfasst
die Darstellung von Hintergründen
aktueller Wande-
>>
DATEN & FAKTEN
rungsbewegungen und ist zugleich
Anlaufstelle für individuelle
Recherchen. Ziel des
Hauses ist es, sich als europäischesMigrations-Kompetenzzentrum
zu etablieren.
Sonderaustellungen, Kulturfeste
und Konzerte bilden
die dritte Säule des Erlebnismuseums:
Sie machen das
Deutsche Auswandererhaus
zu einem attraktiven Treffpunkt
für nationale und internationale
Besucher.
BREMERHAVEN > Outstanding architecture,
unique concept – Bremerhaven
is home to a new, worldleading
institution.
There was a time when
seven million people emigrated
from Europe to the New
World by way of Bremerhaven,
thus temporarily converting
the town into Europe’s
largest port of emigration.
The German Emigration
IMPRESSUM / CREDITS Das Gebäude hat eine Bruttogeschossfläche von 4.702 qm.
Center is bringing the history
of that era back to life, enabling
present-day visitors to literally
recreate the journeys
the emigrants embarked on
more than a century ago. In a
space of 3,500 sq. m visitors
will experience the risks and
dangers of emigration.
The museum also focuses
on the topic of homeland and
migration, featuring background
data on current migratory
movements as well as
acting as a center for individual
research. The museum
aims at establishing itself as
Europe’s leading center on
European migration.
In addition to the two areas
mentioned before the German
Emigration Center will
feature special exhibitions,
cultural events and concerts,
