Liebe Leserin, lieber Leser,
Lichterglanz und festlich geschmückte
Buden, das Aroma
weihnachtlicher Leckereien und
adventliche Klänge machen es
unübersehbar: Auch das Jahr
2007 neigt sich schon wieder seinem
Ende. Zurückblickend war
es wieder ein bewegtes Jahr. Auf
der einen Seite steigende
Umsätze, auf der anderen Seite
steigende Rohstoffpreise und der
Entwicklungsdruck, neue Anforderungen
zu erfüllen. Vorteilhaft
ist, dass wir uns durch die
Einführung des tormatic Produktionssystems
ein stabiles Fundament
geschaffen haben, das
auch diese Situationen beschreibt
und festlegt, wie diese
zu meistern sind. In dem tormatic-Produktionssystem
wurden
Arbeitsprozesse beschrieben
und standardisiert, Kennzahlen
festgelegt, sowie unnötige Verschwendung
aufgezeigt und beseitigt.
Die 5S-Arbeitsmethode
wird gelebt, und in Teamarbeit
konnte eine kontinuierliche Verbesserung
erreicht werden. Die
Bausteine Produkt- und Prozessentwicklung,Just-in-Time-Lieferung,
Ressource Mensch, beste
Qualität sowie Kostenoptimierung
ebneten den Weg zur
Kundenzufriedenheit und zur
Position des Branchenbesten.
Ich möchte mich an dieser Stelle
bei Ihnen, unseren Kunden und
Lieferanten, bedanken, dass
auch Sie gemeinsam mit uns diesen
Weg beschritten haben. Wir
wünschen Ihnen und Ihren
Familien eine schöne Weihnachtszeit
und einen guten Übergang
ins neue Jahr, so dass wir
gesund und voller Tatendrang die

Dear readers,
luminous lights and solemnly
spangled booths, the flavour of
Christmas goodies and the
sound of jingling bells make it
more than obvious: with 2007,
another year is drawing to a close.
In hindsight, it has again
been an eventful year. A rise in
turnover on the one hand, increasing
prices for raw material and
the growing pressure of meeting
new requirements on the other
hand. The advantage of it is that,
by launching the tormatic production
system, we created a stable
foundation for ourselves that also
describes these situations and
that determines how to cope with
them. In the scope of the tormatic
production system, working processes
were described and standardised,
index numbers and
codes were stipulated, and wastage
was pinpointed and eliminated.
The so-called 5S working
method is experienced, and a
continuous improvement could
be achieved in teamwork. The
elements product and process
development, just-in-time delivery,
human resources, best
quality as well as cost optimisation
paved the way to customer
satisfaction and the position as
best in one's field. I want to thank
you, our customers and suppliers,
for also following this way
along with us. We wish you and
your families a very pleasant
Christmas season and a good
start into the New Year so that we
will be able to master the tasks of
the year ahead of us in good condition
and full of energy.

Laut war es in den letzten Monaten in den Räumlichkeiten
der Novoferm tormatic GmbH in Dortmund. An allen Ecken
und Enden wurde fleißig renoviert und umgebaut. „Das
wurde auch Zeit“, sagt Geschäftsführer Willi Ressel und fügt
hinzu: „In den letzten sieben Jahren seit dem Umzug der tormatic
nach Dortmund ist das Unternehmen stetig gewachsen.
Wir sind mittlerweile in immer mehr Ländern rund um
den Globus aktiv und entwickeln uns von Jahr zu Jahr weiter.
Es war nun einfach an der Zeit, auch das äußere
Erscheinungsbild des Unternehmens dementsprechend
anzupassen.“
Nachdem Mitte 2006 die ersten Entwürfe feststanden, konnten
dann Anfang 2007 die Umbaumaßnahmen beginnen.
Neben einem neuen Empfangsbereich entstanden
Büroräume für die Entwicklung, ein neues Schulungszentrum,
ein zusätzlicher Besprechungsraum und ein großer
Pausenraum für die mittlerweile 70 Mitarbeiter des
Unternehmens.
Und die Arbeit hat sich gelohnt. Wenn sie uns in Zukunft
einen Besuch abstatten, erwartet sie ein gemütlicher
Empfangsbereich, der Ihnen den Aufenthalt bei uns mit
Sicherheit angenehm und wohnlich macht. Was die familiäre
Mentalität unseres Unternehmens sehr gut widerspiegelt, ist
die Tatsache, dass dieser Raum maßgeblich von den
Eheleuten Ressel entworfen und gestaltet wurde; genau
gesagt erkennt man hinter allem die Handschrift von Frau
Ressel. So wurde die Sitzecke im modischen roten Farbton
dieses Winters ausgesucht und mit den je nach Jahreszeit
variierenden Blumenarrangements sowie den Wandbildern
abgeglichen. Eine ganz besondere Note und einen schon
fast nostalgischen Touch verleihen zusätzlich das Klavier und
der alte Bauernschrank.
Unser neues Schulungszentrum zeichnet sich neben der
modernen technischen Ausstattung (Beamer, Lautsprecheranlage,
automatische Leinwand etc.) durch die funktionsfähi-

gen Muster von verschiedenen Antrieben aus dem Hause
tormatic und nicht zuletzt durch ein originalgetreues automatisiertes
Garagentor aus. Es wurden somit beste
Voraussetzungen dafür geschaffen, unsere Kunden am praktischen
Beispiel zu schulen.
Da sich auch unsere Mitarbeiterzahl in den letzten Jahren
erheblich gesteigert hat, war es zusätzlich an der Zeit, einen
neuen großen Pausenraum zur Verfügung zu stellen. Dabei
war es uns wichtig, dass sich hier alle Mitarbeiter der tormatic
in ihren wohlverdienten Pausen zusammensetzen können,
um gemeinsam zu essen und sich untereinander auszutauschen.
Sie sehen also... Bei uns hat sich einiges getan.
Vielleicht fühlen Sie sich bei Ihrem nächsten Besuch bei uns
ja sogar so wohl, dass Sie gar nicht mehr nach Hause zurück
wollen...!
There has been a lot of noise on the premises of Novoferm
tormatic GmbH in Dortmund. Renovations and reconstructions
took place nearly everywhere. “It was about time”, says
Managing Director Willi Ressel, adding: “Within the past
seven years since tormatic moved to Dortmund, the company
has experienced a continuous growth. By now, we are
operating in an increasing number of countries around the
world, and we are developing from year to year. So it was just
a matter of time that the appearance of the company
accounted for that.”
After the first drafts were finished in the middle of 2006, the
reconstruction works could start in the beginning of 2007.
The result were a new reception area as well as office rooms
for the development department, a new training centre, an
additional conference room and a large social room for the
currently 70 employees of the company.
And it really was worth the effort. From now on, when you
visit us, you will be welcomed by a cosy reception area,

which surely makes you feel at home during your stay with
us. One thing that reflects the familiar mentality of our company
very well is the fact that this room was significantly conceived
and designed by our Managing Director Mr Ressel
and his wife; to be more precise, everything bears the hallmark
of Mrs Ressel. She chose the furniture in the red shade
in the trend of this winter and matched it with the flower
arrangements varying according to the season and the paintings
on the wall. The piano and the antique armoire additionally
give a very special note and an almost nostalgic air to this
room.
Our new training centre features, besides the latest state-ofart
technology (video projector, PA system, automatic screen
etc), functioning sample operators for several door systems
by tormatic and not to mention an original automated garage
door. Thus, a perfect environment has been created to also
train our customers practically.
Since also the number of our employees has considerably
risen in the past few years, it was also time to provide a new
and bigger social room. In this process, we put emphasis on

Edelstahl bestehende Sockel erleichtert die Montage überall
dort, wo bereits ein Fundament vorhanden ist, die Montage

Neuer Montagesockel NovoGate / New mounting base for the NovoGate
erfolgen muss. Über die im Edelstahl eingebrachten
Langlöcher kann eine Distanz von 60 mm überbrückt werden.
Die Höhe kann dann von 80 mm bis 140 mm frei
gewählt werden. Es besteht zusätzlich die Möglichkeit, die
Langlöcher für die Bodenmontage zu nutzen. Im Bereich von
30 mm kann der Antrieb an das Tor angepasst werden. Wir
sind davon überzeugt, hiermit ein sinnvolles und preislich
interessantes Zubehörprodukt anzubieten, das auch für das
Nachrüsten von bereits vorhandenen Schiebetoren bzw.
Antrieben geeignet ist.
In the first edition of “informatic”, we already reported on our
sliding gate operator NovoGate. Now we expanded the
already simple installation by another auxiliary means. From
the beginning of 2008 on, the NovoGate is optionally available
with a mounting base. The base consisting of 3 mm
high-grade steel simplifies the installation wherever a foundation
already exists, but the mounting of the operator has to be
carried out by means of a base due to the profile height.
A distance of 60 mm can be bridged by the oblong holes
inserted into the high-grade steel. The height can be chosen
from 80 mm to 140 mm. There is an additional possibility to
use the oblong holes for the installation into the ground.
Covering a range of 30 mm, the operator can be adjusted to
the door. We are convinced of offering a useful and reasonably
priced accessory that is also suitable for the refitting of
already existing sliding gates or operators.

Micro-Handsender MIX 43-2 / Micro hand transmitter MIX 43-2
Mit Beginn des neuen Jahres werden wir mit der Einführung
unserer neuen Microhandsender MIX 43-2 die neue
Generation der tormatic-Handsender komplettieren. Der
Anfang letzten Jahres präsentierte Minihandsender MAX
wurde hierbei noch mal um ca. 25% in der Größe reduziert.
Möglich war diese Größenreduzierung nur durch den Übergang
auf höher integrierte Schaltungstechnik. Damit ist dieses
Modell noch konsequenter dafür ausgelegt, am
Schlüsselbund getragen zu werden. Dafür spricht auch die
äußerst stabile Halteöse und der standardmäßig zum
Lieferumfang gehörende Schlüsselring. Abgesenkte Tasten
in Verbindung mit den in der Druckkraft erhöhten Schaltern
reduzieren wirkungsvoll die Gefahr einer unbeabsichtigten
Fehlauslösung. Im Gegensatz zum MAX Handsender gibt es
beim MIX nur eine 2-kanalige Variante.
In der Sendeleistung erfüllt diese Variante die guten Werte
des Vorgängers. Die Leuchtdiode hat analog zum
Minihandsender zwei Funktionen. Zum einen signalisiert sie
durch Dauerleuchten eine Betätigung des Senders. Des
Weiteren fungiert sie als Batteriespannungsindikator.
Wechselt die Anzeige während der Betätigung in eine
Blinkfunktion, so bedeutet dies: Die Kapazität der Batterie ist
erschöpft, und diese muss ausgewechselt werden. Zum
Einsatz kommt eine 3V-Batterie vom Typ CR2032, die wohl
am häufigsten verwendete Knopfzelle. Durch den bewährten
Pull-and-Change-Mechanismus ist der Batteriewechsel ohne
Werkzeug möglich. Mit dem als Option verfügbaren
Wandhalter kann der neue Microhandsender MIX – wie auch
der MAX-Handsender – als Innentaster in der Garage montiert
werden. Der Sonnenblendenclip befestigt den Sender in
optimaler Weise im Auto. So blockiert er keine Ablage und ist
perfekt auf den Empfänger ausgerichtet.

With the beginning of the New Year, we will complete the new
generation of tormatic hand transmitters by launching our
new micro hand transmitters MIX 43-2. The mini hand transmitter
MAX presented in the beginning of last year again was
reduced to a size of approx. 25 %.
This reduction in size was only possible by the transition to
an even more highly-integrated circuitry. Thus, this version is
even more consistently designed to be worn on the key ring,
which can also be seen considering the extremely solid holding
eyelet and the key ring coming with the standard delivery.
Sunken-in buttons in connection with the switches with higher
pressure effectively reduce the danger of an unintentional
actuation. In contrast to the MAX hand transmitter, the MIX is
only available in a 2-channel version. Regarding the transmitting
power, this version meets the high standard of its predecessor.
The LED has two functions, as does the hand transmitter.
On the one hand, the continuous light signals any
operation of the transmitter. Furthermore, it functions as an
indicator of the battery voltage. If the display changes to a
flash during the actuation, this means the following: The battery’s
capacity is exhausted, and it has to be replaced. In this
case, a 3-V CR2032-type battery, the most frequently used
button cell, is inserted. Thanks to the reliable pull-andchange
mechanism, it is possible to replace the battery without
any auxiliary device.
As the hand transmitter MAX, the new micro hand transmitter
MIX can also be installed as interior push button in the
garage by the optionally available wall bracket. The clip for
the sun visor ideally fixes the transmitter in the car. Thus, it
does not block any armature and is perfectly adjusted to the
receiver.

Team tormatic at New York Marathon 2007
Ute Hübner, 40 Jahre alt, ist seit 2000 bei tormatic beschäftigt.
Ihre Aufgabengebiete sind unter anderem die Leitung
Personal, Rechnungswesen und EDV. In ihrer Freizeit liest
sie gerne und treibt Sport, um sich zu entspannen. Vor allem
Laufen bereitet ihr viel Spaß. Ein Grund, warum das Jahr
2007 für Ute Hübner ein ganz besonderes Jahr ist. Denn am
4. November hat sie zusammen mit ihrem Team „WWL – Wir
wollen laufen!“ am diesjährigen New-York-Marathon teilgenommen.
Der New-York-Marathon, gefürchtet wegen seiner
extremen Steigungen, umfasst 42,195 km.
Jedes Jahr stellen sich rund 40.000 Menschen dieser
Herausforderung. Nach einem Halb-Marathon ist es das
erste Mal für Frau Hübner, dass sie an einem ganzen
Marathon teilnimmt. Auf die Frage, wie sie auf die Idee kam,
bei einem ganzen Marathon mitzumachen, antwortete sie:
„Ich bin dieses Jahr 40 Jahre alt geworden und habe mir vorgenommen,
in diesem Lebensjahr noch einmal etwas ganz
Besonderes zu machen. Ich möchte meinen Kindern davon
erzählen können, wie ich in New York an einem einzigartigen
Event teilgenommen habe.“

Frau Hübner hat sich zusammen mit ihrem Team seit Anfang
August intensiv vorbereitet. Drei bis vier mal in der Woche
trainierte die achtköpfige Gruppe. Frei nach dem Motto
„Dabei sein ist alles!“ ging Ute Hübner dann am 04.11. an
den Start. Die Strecke führte von Staten Island nach
Brooklyn, weiter nach Queens, durch die Bronx nach
Manhattan und schließlich in den Central Park. „Insgesamt
waren fünf Brücken zu überqueren“, erinnert sich Ute
Hübner. Auch wenn sie natürlich nicht an die Zeiten ihres großen
Vorbilds, der Profi-Läuferin Paula Radcliffe, herankommt,
kann sich das Ergebnis trotzdem sehen lassen. Mit
einer Zeit von 5:31:59 (Stunden:Minuten:Sekunden) landete
sie auf Platz 34.444 und ließ gut 5.000 andere Läufer hinter
sich. „Ich war überglücklich als ich die Ziellinie überquert
habe“, strahlt die Hobbysportlerin. Wir gratulieren Ute
Hübner voller Stolz zu dieser außerordentlichen Leistung und
freuen uns, dass sie wohlbehalten wieder bei uns in
Dortmund angekommen ist.
Ute Hübner, 40 years old, has been employed with tormatic
since 2000. Her tasks include human resources, accounting
and data processing. In her spare time, she loves reading as
well as working out to relax. She especially enjoys running.
This is one reason why the year 2007 is a very special year
for Ute Hübner. On November 4th , 2007, she and her team
“WWL – We wanna lope!” participated in this year’s New York
Marathon.
The New York Marathon, feared due to its extreme rises,
comprises 26,2 miles. Every year, up to 40.000 people face
this challenge. After running a half marathon, it is the first
time for Mrs Hübner to take part in an entire marathon. Asked
what prompted her to participate in an entire marathon, she
answered: “I turned 40 this year, and I intend to do something
very special in this year of my life. I want to be able to tell my
children how I took part in an once-in-a-lifetime event in New
York.” Mrs Hübner and her team have been intensely preparing
for it since the beginning of August. Three to four times a
week, the team of eight went to training. True to the maxim,
“The important thing is being there!” Ute Hübner started on
November 4th . The marathon covered the distance from
Staten Island to Brooklyn over Queens all the way through
the Bronx to Manhattan and finally to Central Park. “All in all,
we had to cross five bridges”, Ute Hübner recalls.
Even if she does not come near the running time of her great
idol, professional runner Paula Radcliffe, the result speaks
for itself. With a running time of 5:31:59 (h:min:sec), she
made place no. 34.444 and left over 5.000 peer runners
behind. “I was jubilant when I crossed the finishing line”, the
hobby athlete beams. We proudly congratulate Ute Hübner
for this extraordinary accomplishment and are delighted that
she safely returned to us in Dortmund.

Angelika Cicekli ist seit August 2004 bei der tormatic im
Vertriebsinnendienst beschäftigt. Ihr Tätigkeitsbereich
umfasst die Auftragsabwicklung von der Angebotsabgabe bis
zur Rechnungsstellung sowie die Abwicklung unseres Web-
Shops. Frau Cicekli schätzt das selbstständige Arbeiten, den
direkten Kundenkontakt und das familiäre Betriebsklima bei
der tormatic sehr. In ihrer Freizeit verbringt sie viel Zeit mit
ihrer Familie und Freunden. „Familienmitglieder sind doch
die besten Freunde“, sagt sie und lächelt verschmitzt ihrer
Schwester Martina zu, die direkt einen Schreibtisch weiter
sitzt.
Frau Martina Briest ist seit August 2000 bei der tormatic als
Teilzeitkraft tätig und genießt ihre Arbeit im
Vertriebsinnendienst. Ihr Aufgabenbereich umfasst ebenfalls
die komplette Auftragsabwicklung
sowie den Reklamationsbereich.
In ihrer Freizeit
verbringt Frau Briest
gerne Zeit mit ihrer Familie
und ihren 2 Söhnen (14 und
18 Jahre). Wenn es um sportliche
Aktivitäten geht, ist Frau
Briest immer mit von der
Partie. Auch das Tanzbein
wird am Wochenende gerne
mal geschwungen.

working for tormatic in the
sales department since August
of 2004. Among her tasks is
the transaction of orders ranging
from submitting offers to
invoicing as well as the support
of our web shop. Mrs Cicekli
very much appreciates the fact
that at tormatic, you can do
your job on your own, keep
direct contact to the customers
and have a familiar atmosphere
at work. She spends her
leisure time with family and
friends. “Family members are the best friends, after all,” she
says and smiles whimsically at her sister Martina sitting just
one desk away.
Martina Briest has been employed with tormatic on a parttime
basis since August of 2000 and enjoys her work in the
sales department. Her duties include the complete transaction
of orders, too, as well as reclamations. In her spare time,
Mrs Briest loves to spend time with her family and her 2 sons
(14 and 18 years old). When it comes to sports, Mrs Briest
always is a part of the team. On weekends, she also likes to
dance.

35-jähriges Jubiläum der Firma ACOMA / 35-year anniversary of ACOMA

In diesem Jahr feiert ein eng mit tormatic verbundenes
Unternehmen sein 35-jähriges Jubiläum. Viele Mitarbeiter
werden schon oft mit der Firma ACOMA zu tun gehabt
haben. Auch ich kenne sie bereits seit meinen Anfängen bei
tormatic und möchte an dieser Stelle einmal auf die Historie
von ACOMA eingehen.
Martin Andenmatten macht sich im Bereich von
Garagentoren bereits 1962 einen Namen. Ende der 60er-
Jahre importiert er die tormatic-Antriebe unserer
Vorgängerin, der damaligen Firma Th. Düppe KG in Essen.
Als Geschäftsführer übernimmt Herr Andenmatten 1975 den
Sektor für die tormatic-Antriebe und Funkfernsteuerungen.
1980 gründet er die Firma ACOMA – Andenmatten Martin
und erweitert sein Programm mit der Herstellung von
Garagenkipptoren. Als Familienbetrieb, in dem ab 1982

fortgesetzt. Als 1984 die DORMA-Gruppe den Bereich tormatic
übernimmt, bleibt Herr Andenmatten mit seinem
Unternehmen ACOMA der Marke treu. Der Erfolg gibt ihm
Recht, und 1986 wird die Produktionshalle auf 700 m² vergrößert.
Für die Herstellung von Sektionaltoren wird 2007 die
Produktionswerkstatt nochmals vergrößert.
Zwischen dem ersten selbstgebauten Antrieb mit
Handsender, der mit einem modulierten Licht funktionierte,
und der heutigen Antriebstechnik von tormatic liegen Welten.
Relais-Steuerungen und Fliehkraftschalter werden heute
durch Mikroprozessoren ersetzt. Das Handsenderformat wird
immer kleiner. Und was auch tormatic ganz besonders wichtig
ist: Die Antriebe besitzen heute alle einen Soft-Stop sowie
einen Soft-Start, wodurch immer mehr Sicherheit gewährleistet
wird.

auf mindestens noch einmal so viele Jahre voll guter und
konstruktiver Zusammenarbeit!
This year marks the 35-year anniversary of a company linked
closely to tormatic. Many employees may have had to do with
the company of ACOMA. I have known this company since
my beginnings at tormatic, and I would like to share some of
its company history with you at this point.
Martin Andenmatten makes a name for himself in the field of
garage doors as early as 1962. In the late 60s, he imports the
tormatic operators of our predecessor, the late Th. Düppe KG
in Essen. In his capacity as CEO, Mr. Andenmatten takes
charge of the sector of tormatic operators and remote controls
in 1975. In 1980, the company ACOMA – Andenmatten
Martin is founded, and the assortment is expanded by the
manufacture of garage overhead doors. The company continues
its road to success as a family business which
includes daughter Edith and son Alain since 1982. When in
1984, the DORMA group takes over tormatic, Mr
Andenmatten and his company ACOMA remain true to this
brand. The success speaks for itself as the production hall is
enlarged to 700 m² in 1986. It is once again expanded in
2007 for the manufacturing of sectional doors.
The first self-built operator featuring a hand transmitter functioning
with a modulated light and the current operating technique
of tormatic are worlds apart. Relay control and centrifugal
force switches are replaced by microprocessors nowadays.
The format of hand transmitters is getting smaller and
smaller. And what is most important for tormatic: all operators
nowadays feature soft start as well as soft stop, an accomplishment
which guarantees more and more safety.
