Subsurface Engineering – SE
The Chair of Subsurface Engineering is a powerful partner of the mining and
tunnelling industry.
Research Topics:
• long-term behaviour of concrete/shotcrete
• behaviour of geomaterials
• new geotechnical testing devices
• numerical simulation in geotechnics
• solutions concerning TBM´s & pipe jacking
• rock support and rock reinforcement
• design of underground constructions
• slope stability
• excavation material properties and logistics
Due to the existing know-how, the department offers
help to partners particularly in:
• the elaboration of expertises,
• the realization of projects
• external research activities.
We offer solutions for a broad variety of problems
in the fields of geomechanics, tunnelling and heavy
construction engineering.
