SARMa
Sustainable Aggregates Resource Management is a project within the South
East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme which operates in the frame
of the Regional Policy‘s Territorial Cooperation Objective.
The first level (local) deals with environmental-friendly
extraction practices, reduction of illegal quarrying,
recycling and resource efficency. The national
level covers the development of a framework of
SARM and SSM. Furthermore recommendations for
implementing SARM and SSM into national planning
are drawn up. Transnational activities involve
legislation and policy harmonization, the design of
an Aggregates Intelligence System, information
transfer and the establishment of a regional centre
on sustainable aggregates management and supply.

The SARMa project covers a very extensive research
area. Main objective is to develop an approach
to sustainable aggregate resource management
(SARM) and sustainable supply mix (SSM) planning
for ensuring aggregates supply in Southeast Europe.
The project is conducted at three scales: local/regional,
national and transnational level. Each of these
levels form an own working group with different
tasks. SARMa distinguishes itself by a vertically integration
of all these tasks.
Forschungspartner:
MUL is one of 23 project partners. 18 partners are
situated in the European Union (Austria, Greece, Italy,
Romania, Slovenia) and five in non-EU member countries
(Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo,
Serbia).
